My HORRIBLE experience at the Detroit Auto Show!

Hey Dan theres another guy on another website with the SAME gripe, went to the show saw that exact Mustang and she told that person that she would have security escort them out ect..... lol sounds like the same Hag!

Could you link me to that website? I would love to read his comments...

Dan

Watching the videos on there site the guys seems to be a BS. "we haven't raced the car but it should go 12's according to simulations" and the 0-60 with a long hesitation in 3 seconds.

Those guys are total douches. I looked at the car and talked to one of the guys Monday. No lady was there at the time. They have no interest in answering any sort of intelligent question in any way, they just want to amaze sheeple with spectacular claims.

That was the guy I talked to. When we were down there there was another guy in the display too. Pic is from their website.

I bought a capri off that guy back in the day, he runs a mustang sales lot. He also invented that valley girdle for ford blocks.

The Valley Girdle Pro stabilizes and strengthens your engine block to prevent block twisting and cylinder bore distortion. It will add significant strength and rigidity to your engine! You will also find a gain in horsepower! Valley Girdle Pro's are made in the U.S.A.

LOL @ the valley girdle, what a joke!

This guy is just another shyster that has a car that defies the laws of nature. Time and again these crooks come out with the miracle engine/system and get suckers to throw money at them.

yeah, horsepower tv did a show on that guy and the car a while ago, its a big scam. I told him I had already engineered an electric grand national last night while I was there. I recognized him from the TV show. Told him I was going 70-80 miles on a charge and pulled out a random old timeslip i had in my jacket from my 11sec run and showed it to him. then i walked off as he was looking at me dumbfounded

I bet he's still standing there looking at it...

Im trying to find it but no avail, it was 1 of 5 different sites and some of the sites the forums move quickly, something I posted an hour ago is already 3 pages back.... I will keep searching....but it was the same thing came and looked at the car and went over the make-shift barricade and was getting yelled at by this chick and he told her to go ahead and call sercurity he was pissed and he was from outta town and that bitch left a bad taste in his mouth about the autoshow.

If you guys are all going to go, you should all go together. I mean like a crazy mob of people. Then just surround the car at all angles. I bet she would go nuts trying to make sure no one looks under it. Then everyone just start taking pictures of it!

Since it's running on E85, every gallon consumed is only .15 gallon of gasoline. That means it burns 6.67 gallons of E85 in order to actually burn an entire gallon of pure gasoline.

Let's say the car does indeed get 110 miles per gallon of gasoline. That means it gets 110 miles per 6.67 gallons of E85. This equates to 16.5 miles per gallon of E85 burned.

Finally, don't forget that "flex fuel" cars (those that can run on E85 and E0) will see about 30% worse economy when running on E85 compared to running on E0. So if this guy's car sees 16.5 miles per gallon of E85, that would equate to about 23.5 miles per gallon of straight gasoline were he to switch over.

From what I've seen, 23.5 mpg is completely plausible for a 400 HP 5.0L Mustang while cruising in 5th gear at legal speeds.
hahaha lame

ROFLMAO I can just see you being Mr Defiance. LOL.

She didn't want you to see the hampster cages under the 110mpg mustang.

OK, here's what happened to me tonight at the Auto Show. I thought I was in the twilight zone or something.

So, I go downstairs to look at the stuff down on the basement level of Cobo (yes, there is some stuff to see down there...) and I notice a blue 85-86 Mustang over against the wall. There is some yellow caution tape around it and a lady standing near the car. Being a Mustang fan, especially of foxbody mustangs, I walk over there, pick up some literature about this car, and begin to walk around the car and check it out.

While I'm checking the car out, I bent over to see what kind of exhaust was on the car. Now, keep in mind, there is yellow caution tape all the way around this car, and I am at least a foot away from the yellow caution tape while I am doing this.

Suddenly, the lady comes up to me and tells me that I can not look under the car. I tell her that I am just looking to see what type of exhaust is under the car and she proceeds to tell me that she doesn't care what I'm looking to see, I'm not supposed to look under this car.

I said to her, "Well ma'am, I have every right out here in this public space, outside of your yellow caution tape, to kneel down to look under your car. In fact, this is a car show, that's what people do." She replied back, "No you don't, and if you don't stop, I'm going to call security on you and have you removed from this place." At that point I said to her, "Then you're going to have to call security because I'm not going anywhere. I paid to come here tonight to look at cars and I have every right to stand here, on my head if I want to, and look at this car."

Long story short - Security came. Escorted me away. At this point my 5 year old daughter sees what's happening, and she begins to cry uncontrollably. She thinks that daddy is going to jail. I explained to them what happened and I ended up asking to talk to a supervisor. He told me that this was the second complaint they have had about her this week. I told him that he needed to do something about this matter. On my way home, he calls me and tells me that he talked with her and told her that if he gets one more complaint they will ask her to leave. I think she should be gone already.

She is with this company - www.hp2g.com
Apparently, she was concerned that I was trying to steal their secrets because their company is in a big contest to win 10million dollars in a gas mileage contest. That's fine, but if you don't want your secrets stolen, and you don't want people looking at your car, or taking pictures of it, then DON'T BRING IT TO A FREAKING CAR SHOW!!! Bring a picture of it instead!

So, if you go to the Detroit Auto Show this weekend, be sure to go downstairs and take a good look at this car (Blue Notchback with a blonde-haired woman standing next to it), while KNEELING DOWN (just don't cross the yellow tape and you are within your rights)!! If she gives you a hard time, be sure to complain to the security people and she will get herself expelled for the rest of the weekend, which is what she deserves for ruining my five-year-old daughters night.

Sorry for the rant,

Dan

Dang Dan. That is crazy. I saw that car down there but never went that close to it. But hey, at least you guys got ice cream! That fixes all when you are a kid. OK it still works as an adult too.

I understand what you are saying. There came a point where I made a judgment call in the situation, and at that point I decided that I was going to stand my ground and not back down because of a fundamental principle of right and wrong that was involved.

Perhaps you are right, I could have walked away with my daughter and come back at a later time and dealt with the situation. Maybe that's what I should have done. At the same time, afterward, while eating icecream upstairs with her (along with one of the security guards who escorted me out) the security guard said to her, "Its okay honey, you're daddy is fine, and he did the right thing."

Is she old enough to understand these things yet? Maybe not. But there are just some times in life when you stand your ground. I felt that this was one of those moments. Hopefully my daughter will learn to discern these moments as she gets older, and hopefully she will do it better than dad because I sure know he doesn't always do everything just the way it ought to be done. But he tries his very best:cheers:

Sounds like you're doing a fine job and she won't be affected by this at all.

Back up just a second and relax.

I had a few chats with that guy when I was covering the auto show with Jalopnik prior to the Industry Preview days. He's a cool guy that lent us some tools out of the back of his Fox so we could dismantle the Jalopnik GEM car. Being the only guy at the NAIAS with real tools is worth bonus points alone.

I haven't met the woman you're talking about, but odds are it's his wife. He most likely told her to keep an eye on the car and she overreacted. It's not cool that security was involved, but I'm positive that the owner of the car will show you every single thing on it, underneath or not, if you speak with him directly.

It's just a well-built E85 Fox, nothing more. Kudos for having something oldish on the show floor next to those vaporware electrics.

Well put.

Guarantee he will not show you anything you want to see because he wouldn't even give a straight answer to technical questions. We're in this competition so I can't say anything about that is what I got. He sure as hell claims it to be something more than a well built E85 Mustang as I was inquiring about the gas mileage being MPGe. Not calling him out, just inquiring on what that really meant from my knowledge of what the EPA does to "correct" E85 mileage to normal fuel based on the energy content of the fuel. He said the e was not for the ethanol equivalency but was the true mileage and the e was for electric. When I said, so it's something like a hybrid was she he said I can't say any more because of the competition. I don't buy his claims any more after that than I did before. I was very polite in talking to him and made every effort to not just be calling him out and he really wasn't pleasant back during the duration of the conversation. He could generally be a cool guy but when it comes to his "invention" he a fucking douche.
