My brother in laws project(twin turbo dakota)

This project has been going on and off for the better part of, well, since he bought the truck new. He supercharged it pretty much the day he bought it, and it's been down hill since:)

It was kind of a show and go truck; ridiculous sound system, carpeted bed with hard cover, strobe lights, mildly customized interior, and the vortech supercharger. It ran mid 13s and was a fun ride.

I honestly can't remember when exactly he tore it apart. I think it was sometime when I was living in california, which means 2000-2001. I was telling him about an article I had just read: Kevin Meany had a twin turbo early 90s vette that was insane. There was a pic of him smoking the tires halfway down the track, he ran a low 11 something @ 151mph! So Kris bought the mag and decided his truck need twin turbos.

He had a local place build his 408, and a local turbo "guru" put together his piping. The turbo setup ended up costing him way more than was originally agreed to, and took waaaaaaay longer. It wasn't my deal, so I'm not gonna get into the details, but it was to the point where I wanted to go bust the guy up. Kris is too nice. The dude was finally getting it done, so at that point he decided to get the 408 in and dial it in with the Accell DFI. It ran like crap, a compression test showed he had none in a couple of the cylinders. It had been two years since he took delivery of the engine, so he just wrote the shop off and sent everything to this dude: http://www.thefastman.com/

The block ended up being junk, so he bought a new mopar r3 block. I don't remember all the details, but the guy reworked the heads, set up the block to run a one off valvetrain, and built the engine. At 8.2 to 1 compression this is what he got(click for size):

about 460ft/lbs and 450hp.

He's pretty stoked to get this thing put together, and I'm still not exactly sure what he's gonna do with it:) Traction will be an issue.

I think he's planning on taking the motor with the turbos to Wheel2wheel to do the tune when that time comes.

Here are some pics he just sent me:

I'll try to get some more details from him on the cam and heads and I'll get more pics as he gets it together.

He sent me this info last night:

Mopar R3 block bored .030 over 4 bolt main
ARP main studs
Eagle ESP H beam rods with up graded bolts
Wisco pistons 4.030 8.5to1 compression
Mopar forged crank 4.00" stroke, Crank was nitride
Moroso 7 quart oil pan
Mopar magnum aluminum heads 53cc comb. Chambers
Cometic head gaskets
Custom built Crain hdyrodolic roller lifters
1.6 shaft mount roller rockers

Turbo set up
2 Garret GT30 ball bearing turbos 550-600HP each
HKS wastgates
Procharger blow off valve
Custom built headers and exhaust for turbos

Motor dyno run (motor only run with a 750cc carb)
450HP at 5500
464TQ at 4700
This is motor only no turbos

I don't have flow numbers or cam spects

Yeah, I really dig the dakota r/t's

He actually just bought another one:) I guess he was tired of not being able to drive this one! His real sleep is his car though. A neon SXT with a SRT-4 drivetrain. That car has snuck up on some folks!

450hp on just motor, and then adding twins is going to be a lot of fun... you think he's going to get traction? LOL...

Nice truck! Does this guy or possibly his brother have a yellow viper r/t?

No he doesn't. He's got a sxt neon with a srt-4 drivetrain, this r/t and a mostly stock r/t, and 1970 roadrunner project. And a few other cars that aren't so exciting.

He was talking about how he wanted a viper but they cost so much, and I told him he could of bought one new with the money he's put into that truck!

It was using a cam setup for forced induction too. I guess the guy told him with a different cam he could of gotten 75 more hp without raising the compression!

My guess on the traction is.....no

He could pry win some burnout contests though!
