Good thing you don't own dogs. In by no way am i trying to justify what happened to this poor little girl, but if you had a dog and it got out and bit someone's kid it would be your responsibility. You should shoot yourself for not raising it right and letting it get out in the first place.

Every now and then my dog gets out...someone leaves the door open, or the gate, or we are unpacking groceries and he finds a way....he's just a little fat fella though. The worst thing he would do is hump your leg...he's a perv. I get both sides though of wanting to harm her dog or her for that matter. In THIS case, I'm all for shooting the lady, and biting the dogs back.

he has a valid point.... especially if there weren't any adults home.

I wasn't really trying to make a point, I was simply asking a question so I could better understand what happened.

Obviously a five year old sustaining a dog bite is a traumatizing event, that's fairly obvious and doesn't need to be restated fifty times..

Yes a point, but not elaborated...
I just don't like someone making someone feel bad about their parenting skills,

Wow......from "my kid got bit by a dog" to "you're a shitty parent" in 45 posts........what a tool:shake:

See above - I asked simply to better understand what happened. But thanks, for assuming the worst.

Since you bring it up, yeah - I do think it's a bit suspect that a parent would leave their five year old child in the care of a fourteen year old while they're out of town.

Out for dinner I could understand, but out of town? As I said earlier, I wasn't trying to commentate on the op's childrearing judgment.

At any rate, of course I feel bad for anyone who is attacked by a dog. I think all of this "you should sue em" talk is a bit premature considering how incomprehensible the original post was it’s difficult to determine what even happened.

+1.

Thats really sad, that you five year old got attacked. Hope she can put it behind her. I would sue the shit out of the owner. If not, at least put out a little antifreeze treat for them.

This statement is arrogant to the fullest degree.

How can you be so sure a dog will never bite?? You make it sign a "Doggy no bite contract"??

A dog bit a 5 year old child, that's what happened, and that's all you need to know. It's the dog-owners responsibility regardless of whether or not the parent was out to dinner or on the moon. The multiple wounds pictured on that child (not the scrapes but the bite marks) indicate that she was not snapped at, she was attacked by the dog and the reason is insignificant. The owner is at fault and negligent and the incident is absolutely inexcusable.

In all reality, the dogs should be put down and that owner should never be allowed to own or raise another dog. Just my opinion, I am free to voice that here correct?? If not bite me, lol

Come on guys, we have no right to tell anybody what is right or wrong with how someone raises their children.

Dude, this is motown muscle where everyone is perfect, and everyone knows everything!

Basically you have dog owners who dont have kids and you have parents who dont own dogs in this thread. You have emotion coming from both ends which is understandable. Ther perfect end to this situation in my opinion would be to put the dogs down and ban the owners from ever owning another dog. Simple as that. To honestly say these dogs could/would never bite again is an impossible statement to back up IMO.

That's all I would need to know if I didn't care to understand what happened, how it happened, and how potentially it could have been avoided.

I know dogs, you know kids. Can you be sure one of your kids isn't going to be a serial killer when they grow up? :dontknow: As a parent doing things right i'm sure your answer will be "yes" :)

I aint got a clue on that one. All 3 of my boys might grow up and kill half the world. But I can say that IF they did that I would be the first one to say "Time to put them down". Things like that just cant be fixed IMO.
