I'm not sure what to do now. Last night My wife and I were out of town on business and we got a phone call that my 5yr old daughter got attacked by some dogs. Now, we live in a very nice neighborhood. we are the second house from a dead end and the street that goes strait out from the front of our house goes a block and dead ends at a ditch. There are lots of kids in the neighborhood and most of the parents watch out for them.
Well apparently my daughter was with the two next door neighbor's girls and their 11yr old son down at this ditch. When 3 dogs approached my little girl. She says she stood still for a bit because she was scared but when she turned to walk away 2 of the dogs attacked her. Then she says the owner of the dogs that lives in the house next to the ditch called the dogs off, and took my daughter into her house. She put 2 band-aids on the biggest bite and told her she would be ok and sent her on her way. My daughter ran back home crying histariclly. This is when I get a phone call from my 14yr old about the situation. I emeditly called my dad to come check out her out. He got there within 15min and went down to talk to the lady to see if her dogs had their shots and to get the story from her. When he got there no one was home and the dogs were penned up. At this point I felt like I had no choice but to get the police involved. So the police arrive about 1.5hrs from the time it all happened.(we told them it was not an emergency) They took pictures and a report, then went down to talk to the dog owner. This time not only is she not there but the dogs were not in their pen anymore either. Now the funny thing is, is that for her to leave she would have to come right passed my house unless she drove accross her side yard and around a village barricade. So... the officer recamend that she was taken to be looked at so my mother in-law took her to Ready Med and they gave her salve and bandages to put on her wounds. She has a nasty wound on her right side kinda on her ribs with what looks like 2 punctures. Another single puncture on the left shoulder with a scuff around it and a single puncture down in the left kiddney area. Her pants were ripped and her knee was scraped too like they dragged her or something.
There are so many things I don't understand. 1st this lady takes my daughter in and puts 2 little band-aids on her wound and sends her home and bolts!! What?!!:shake:
I will stop there. We are still waiting to hear back from animal control. Ready-med faxed them the medical bills and they are supposed to make a visit to these people today. I was told not to contact them, that the law would take care of it. My dalema here is that this is the only neighbor I don't at least know by face in my whole neighborhood and they have put me in a position that I don't like to be in.
It's probably a good thing I was not home because if I would have went down there to talk and they were not home, The dogs would have been taken care of.:blaster:Lead pill to head syndrome for the dogs and a
