mustang with a dana rear???

i bought a '86 mustang over last summer and im trying to track down exactly what the rear is from. it looks like its a dana 44. i thought it was a ssp piece, but, everything i find on it say the ssp cars only had a 7.5 or 8.8 rear in them. anyone know?

it is a dana 44 i pulled it out of a capri years ago,rick put it in that 86 you bought,im not sure what they came in.i thought i heard they came in police cars,it is a good rearend,but it is an inch or two wider than an 8.8

check the buck tags to see if it's an ssp
 
rick told me it was most likely from a ssp cap, but, everything i have been reading on the said they eaither came with the 7.5 or 8.8. i think its the same width as a 8.8 also. its in my notch right now with the same 5.5" back space 10" wide wheels with no issues.
