I decided to make a new thread for my friend's car since it it near completion...

i'll take it from the top.

This is my friends 1985 IROC Camaro that he's been building for the last few years or so, it isn't done yet, but it's getting close.

Started life as an automatic...

Custom Wilwood brakes, he had to fabricate the mounting of these because wilwood doesn't offer a kit for his car, and he wanted Wilwoods

Now between then and now a lot had happened, that 388 stripped a distributor gear, metal shaving everywhere, and for caution he ordered a new shortblock (to save time) and started over using AFR heads, and some other odds and ends.

Also, his hood was trashed after a forgotten hood pin incident caused the $1200 hood to turn into a piece of worthless fiberglass. A new hood is in the shop and should be done by the weekend. The hood is the same style and the color scheme will remain the same, but the color will be matched to the wheels.

In order to run a bigger dish the rear axle was swapped out to go back to the third gen which was then built up by a shop. My friend fabbed up a custom caliper mount for the wilwoods in the rear.

The wheels are made by a friend of mine and are a one off set as far as measurements, however the wheel style itself is available in many different platforms. these are 2 piece forged wheels.

Next time i'm home we're having a photo shoot.

Here are some of the exhaust before it was coated.

The exhaust is completely hand made and there is over a month of work into it. the solid pipe side has mufflers within the piping and the gap is for a cut out.

again this is NOT my car, i just helped.

I like this car in every stage of build so far. Its hard to beat the black 10 spokes but this setup gives a nice little raked stance.. The exhaust is pretty trick! Vids?! Sounds!? Matching valve covers!?!(jk!) come on!!:)

Where are those headlights and covers from? That thing is absolutely sick.. super clean third gen.

The headlight housings are made by Matrix, but i'm not sure if they're available anymore. as for the covers, i am not sure as to who makes them, or if he even plans to use them this time.

I've seen this car in person at the Brighton meet on Sundays. Lots of work in, not a big fan of 3rd gens but you gotta respect the work.

Alex, I didn't know you were over here, you sonofabitch.

there were two reasons the black wheels got tossed:
1. Weight, those wheels were really heavy for what they were.
2. The black wheel and polished lip has become so popular that he more or less hates it now.

it looks like the hood will be done for sure by this weekend, but with school i won't get home til the weekend of the 20th, but i should be doing a photoshoot with the car then.
