MSD/SBF distributor problem

Well I am having a little problem that I can't figure out. My distributor(msd pro billet) will not completely seat into the block, it is about a quarter to an eighth inch up. I have checked to see if it was engaging on the oil pump shaft and it seems to be and I have had some people on corral say it may be upside down but it definetely has enough room to slide all the way down on it, I actually think it is a hex all the way down. Then i had another guy say it is the FRPP shaft I have and it will not work, but I don't see how its a fucking ford part I don't think it is too long. Does anybody have a clue? I am also looking for a stock 351w distributor that maybe I can try in case the MSD is jacked. I just need one with a 5/16" hex hole instead of the stock 5.0 1/4". Any help would be appreciated

Eric

i had the same problem , i messed w/ it for awhile and it finally went in, i dont know why it was fighting me then just went right in

really, ya I was really pissed when i kinda figured i would have to drop the pan, somebody told me that the FRPP one doesnt work and I need to get the ARP one, but I have heard bad things about it. I am looking around for a stock one because the car is absolutely done besides that, the only reason i waited was so i could sping the oil pump, i really dont want to fuck with it anymore.

take the o-ring off the distributor then put it in dont worry about clocking it or anything just see if it falls in.

Alot of the times the orin gis so tight there seem like there binding up when all it ends up being was the o-ring.

the o-ring was off and had the same problem, I used the FRPP shaft for a 351, got it a detroit speed shops they told me that's the one I need. not sure of the part number I will have to go find it. Does anybody know if I use a stock dizzy will that shaft work? I am thinking of buying a reman one online and trying it out but I don't want to piss anymore money away if it will not work.
