MSD Dist. in SBF

ok, so quick over view....

ARP oil pump shaft, roller cam, MSD Dist.



My MSD will not drop down far enough into place. We've inked the lower half and re-droped looking for the snag with no tell tale results. The stock dist. shaft is .500 O.D. on the lower end that drops into the block and slides into the oil pump shaft. the MSD unit is .520.

has anyone seen where the pump shaft is to large to drop all the way down into the block pocket?

any other weird things?

PS-we've already murdered the shaft because i did not walk away when i should have... :(
 
did u try the ol hold pressure on the top of the dist. and bump the key trick? cam gear and oil pump shaft arent perfectly aligned.
 
CHeck the length of the oil pump shaft against the stock one.

Also try to install the dist without the oil pump shaft, could be what the above poster said, you just haven't got it lined up properly.
 
Had a similar issue before. The cam was just bit out of sync. Try bumping the key to see if it goes in.
 
update.

oil pump shaft was a half inch to long.

arp oil pump shafts have to be cut to fit most of the time when using a msd i guess.
