my car (302 with a mild cam and port job, 89 mustang electronics, A9L) has no spark. i've confirmed that the computer is operating and sending voltage to the injectors, etc. i've also confirmed that the TFI module is recieving full voltage in both crank and run and that it's properly grounded. running an MSD blaster tfi coil, pro-billet dizzy, and 6al box. box is hardwired to the coil and fuse block, and is grounded to the frame (i'm going to add weatherpacks at some point).
at the time i had the tfi module unplugged, but i did not find voltage at either terminal on the coil with the key in run. are you supposed to find it there or do CD ignitions only power the coil when the engine is running?
when cranking, the tachometer reads a steady 400rpm and does not change with cranking speed.
a couple years ago, same motor same dizzy different computer, i had a problem with the ignition cutting out for no reason randomly, usually firing right up afterwards. problem got worse, i replaced the dizzy with a factory unit, problem went away. i'm prepared to install another pickup in the msd to correct this.
edit: just read on MSD forums that i'm not the only one with the problem in the last paragraph: it was solved by replacing the pickup with a new oem. definitely gonna try that first, and if it doesn't work i'll bypass the box.
