Mountain Bikes?

I bought a Diamondback 29er style and love it wish I would have spent the extra money up front and got one with a better front fork. I used to work at a bike shop and you are right about the 1k tipping point. I spent 600 on a nice mid grade with disk and a hard tail. My 5 year old daughter gets a kick out of dad busting through ditches and crashing. Ill buy a bike with better components off craigslist next time a lot of people go over kill and then decide they don't like it or get hurt and sell out.

I have a diamondback overdrive as well. I live minutes from the potawatomi trail and ride it most of the time.

I'm still rocking my 2001 Schwinn. Last summer a took my friend's 29" Trek for a spin around the parking lot at Mayberry and then didn't want to get back on mine. I'll be looking for a new bike this year so I appreciate all of the suggestions.

I love my K2 freakshow, it is all around solid and great for road and trail so far. It is a fat bike but it weighs less than my Mongoose hilltopper that I have had since I was 16. Thy seem to be selling for around 1K down there but Mc sports up this way start them at 600 for some reason.

Ive got a 29r single speed you have to be a boss to pedal... I am not that boss.

Finally pulled the trigger on the X-Caliber 8 today. After looking at a variety of bikes, trying them out, and trying to find one that felt best, I tried the Trek X-Cal 8 and X-Cal 9, but went with the 8, simply because I couldn't tell a difference between it and the 9, but didn't want to pay $300 more. I pick it up Saturday.

I'd looked at a couple of Specialized and Cannondale, but for the money, I felt the Trek was the best choice. Got a great deal on it too.
