MotownMuscle's own: The SideWaysCoupe Cobra Terminator Revitalized by AutoLavish

That is fantastic. I used to do alittle detailing and I know first hand the attention to detail is important. Looks like you are a master at your trade sir.

Thanks for all the replies. I just realized I never responded to everyone, but know that I do appreciate the kind words! This was almost done three years ago now: time really does fly.

Marc,

I used to work for the budd company during the time we were producing mustang, t-bird and navigator body parts. Just a heads up for you........

the reason why the SMC (sheet molded composite) body panels are thin on paint. is because they are not metal.

the cars are positivly charged when they go thru the paint booth and the paint is the negitivtly charged. so the paint is then "attracted" to the metal on the cars. to get around this (plastic doesent carry current well.)

we (the budd co.) developed a primer that would carry a charge. the only problem with it was the primer was potable for 3 hours. but the conductivity was only potable for an hour. so, if the paint operators at the budd plants ( located in north baltimore and cary, Ohio) did not change the paint out every hour on the hour you could get thin paint .

It was once so bad on the 03-04 t-birds that it looked like a lightning bolt rant through the panels where the paint did not stick. we had to send them back thru wixom's paint shop and had the ford paint booth operators manually "dust" them with paint guns.

so careful with the smc ford cars... ;)
