Motown Woodward dream cruise plans

LOL....Hell Yeah.....

Start collecting money soon. So its not a mad rush in August. I like the lot we have. But will pant and show up wherever it is. As long as I can drink everyone's beer. Especially out of white ford lightings

Our regular spot isn't bad. It's not in the crazy traffic area. So getting in and out of the lot is easier. I don't sit at the lot all day. I walk up to big beaver and back.

our spot rules because you have moving traffic, people accellerating from a stoplight, AND a traffic jam on the other side northbound so you can get a longer look at the cars that just zoomed by. As far as cops, I dont see why anyone stays that late... call me old. ha! Thanks for getting it done Nick!

Agreed. I like our lot location. It's also located close enough to Ferndale that people can hike down that way to see all the Ford stuff. Easy to get in/out of down Borgman and through the neighborhood too.

I know it's a different city, but I was out last weekend, and spoke to a Birmingham cop on woodward who informed us that if we had permission from the property owner, and that we were on private property...i.e.....not the public spots out from......that we would be allowed to stay even after the usual "flushing of woodward" at 10-10:30. All we would need to do is get the documentation(letter of permission) and take it to the city P.D. and file it with them to allow us access after the closing of woodward hour. SO maybe if we keep our lot again this year, we can get he lease paperwork done up with enough time to take it to the city P.D. and file it with them to prevent swat style ejection this year, and allow us the ability to tell the chest bumpers to go pound sand, and that we don't truly have to leave.

By the way, I did enjoy the lot, and the location was cool. But if there was a similar lot closer to the action, in a nice location, I wouldn't mind either, but I imagine the farther north we go, the more it's gonna cost us to park.

Oh, and the Simple Mortgage lot is too small for the size of crowd we had. Hell, it was packed on Friday night when I tried to stop by and say hello, so I ended up scooting along. Must have to get there earlier. ANy guys here regularly hit the Simple lot?

Let me try to make some calls tomorrow, anyone else checked into any new lots yet?
The ListedMyCar.com crew got pricing for a couple lots on non dream cruise weekends and just asked for fun what it would cost to rent them for the dream cruise and the numbers were pretty wild in the 14-15 mile and Woodward area. I forget the name of the surf shop but they rent their 20 or so spot lot out for the three dream cruise days for $17K. Our startup would be interested in getting at least four spots maybe more if they were available.

So do we all agree to look into the old lot and speaking to the Police Department prior to the event this year since I don't see any other names/locations etc. discussed?

This is sort of like the Christmas party at Duggan's. We can talk in circles about doing something different and do nothing or just go with the old stand by and have the same great event we've always had. Sounds like the old stand by lot is the best option again.

I need to figure out what the dream cruise plans are going to be. We have a lot of uncertainty going on over the next month or two right now.

Hell yeah, ol faithful sounds good, and a prior discussion with the property owner and police would help us alot in the event that we encounter a swat-type invasion again.

Make sure we get a name and/or business card for the chief or whomever we speak with at the P.D.

Call/email is in to the lot owner. I'll update as soon as I can confirm with him that it's a go I'll get a new thread created.

That lot is nowhere big enough for us on Dream Cruise.

And from talking to Steve, he doesn't even have rights to the lot for Woodward, the property owner retains the rights for the lot on Woodward cruise weekend. Dude puts it in the lease agreement...
