MOPAR Regular Cab POWER WAGON

its cool but its not a raptor competitor.

And the Raptor is not a compeitior for this either.

The Power wagon is a rock crawler. Slow speed HARDCORE techincal shit.

The Raptor is a HIGH SPEED pre-runner, Baja shit

That's true, but this doesn't look to be a typical Power Wagon. It's definitely not completely Raptor-ized, but I wouldn't be surprised if it splits the difference at least a bit.

It does have a coil over rear, which the '10 Power Wagon doesn't have. I wonder if they put the upcoming 6.4 in it? One Chrysler engineer just said they pry won't be putting it in the HD trucks because it's not a low end torque motor.

The photographer said it sounded mean as hell.

just the dodge camp playin' catch up as usual. nice to see my tax dollars being wasted on something as impractical as that thing. fucking typical. wonder when the nutthuggerz at government motors are going to trot out their hunk of shit. seeing as the camaro's in production now, maybe stevie wonder can turn his talents to fucking up the silverado.....

i may lodge a formal protest at the next board meeting.....:gr_jest:

Catch up? The current Power Wagon won the Off-Road truck of the year....over the Raptor.

You're right, they should just sit on your tax dollars and create zero buzz. You'll get a nice return on that.

I dont see how the Raptor truck is "high speed" baja capable. Sure it has a good suspension. But its 0 - 60mph time is 8.2 seconds!!! With a super charger and other goodies from Hennessey its 0 - 60mph is still 5.6 seconds!!! I cant see the raptor getting up to speed in a baja style race and keeping up with anything else.

ability to win races is decided on how much overall speed you can carry over an entire race...people have been running bajas in 60hp beetles since the beginning of time

the 3 seconds you lose in 0-60 time are well made up by the fact that you can cruise at 100mph for the next 4 hour leg vs 70. Thats one of the main reasons John Force doesnt run his top fuel in nascar either

I bet they have to give the first Raptors away, I would not want one unless it had the 6.2! and I have seen a bunch downtown detroit too and I know they are all underpowered!

If they put the 6.2 in them then we can talk!

Naw, they are all spoken for, and then some.

But yeah, I'd be waiting for the 6.2 if I was actually gonna get one.

Quickness and high speed don't always go hand in hand. You aren't stoplight racing in Dakar.

Shoot, the current Power Wagon is quicker 0-60 then the Raptor, but it would get destroyed in a desert race.

lemme see...i own seven ford vehicles, plus i work at a ford dealership. i'd call that having a vested interest in their success, which is far from nuthugging. funny post though.....

My tax dollars hard at work, they should be bankrupt again in no time.....

nice to see common sense showing up here......

i'm not against mopar having a line of performance vehicles. conversely, i applaud their igenuity here. i just think it's poor taste/timing to flaunt an extremely niche marketed vehicle. they've got bigger issues to tackle than shock travel on a baja truck.

So on one hand you(erroneously) say they are trying to catch up, and on the other hand you say they shouldn't. Which is it? It doesn't matter what they'd do, you would hate.

i'm not hatin' on chrysler. let's forget about the catchin' up part and focus on the fact that a vehicle like that is a waste of valuable r&d resources. cool concept, extremely poor timing. sorry, that's the reality of it all. you have your opinion, i have mine. no worries. btw, i still want a t-shirt and a beanie...:handshake:

You mean forget about the part where you were completely misinformed? And saying "that's the reality of it all" comes off a little stronger than "opinion" ;)

You can't just stop R&D And it's not like they developed a ton of new parts for this, it's a mix of 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and Jeep parts. And maybe they needed a test bed for the 6.4 in a truck.

It's obvious who the people are that thought they shouldn't have gotten the money in the first place, and that's fine. But those same people are going to slam every decision they make now.

And Shirts and Hats are available here: http://www.browndogwelding.com/brown-dog-welding-gear/ :D

Let's use that R&D money to create profit, cars that can be used on a daily basis. The last thing they need right now is some fluff off engineer creating Tonka trucks from his childhood, I wasn't aqainst Chrysler or GM getting money...I hope the best for both companies, but some better decisions need to be made for a profitable future.....

Yeah, 'cuz you've seen all the wild and crazy concepts they've been building...oh wait, no, they haven't been. They need to do something to keep people excited about the brand.

For what it's worth, this was built by MOPAR. Not only could it be used as a test bed for future production pieces, often times they basically build with parts they are going to be offering as accessories. And as I already mentioned, most of the underpinnings are stock from other vehicles already in production. I think you guys are way off if you think millions were spent on the development of some one off concept vehicle.
