Monday Night Slow Roll in Detroit...

Every Monday night about 500-700+ people gather to go bike riding through Detroit to see the city in more ways then one... Last night I did it with my fiancé to see what it's about... And it's a blast... People of all ages, races, creeds, and religions gathered around to take a bike ride... Growing up in the city you know the area's of Detroit over the years... It's no secret that the city has very dangerous areas... But last night when I went on this slow roll I never once questioned the route, the people, or the surrounding areas... For the people on this board that do ride... Check it out... I'll be doing it a lot more...

This picture was taken off Grand Blvd... They are estimating 700+ from last nights bike ride... I personally think they are being conservative about it... The ride was almost a mile long of bikers...

They do this on saturday morning also, the meet down town somewhere at like 6 am, my wife rides sometime I stay home with the kids, LOL

I heard about that... Called Beat the Train or something like that... That's a lot faster pace from what I heard...

My wife would be going this saturday but its NO et and its my turn to go out and play, LOL She says they do like 30 miles, she mountain bikes trails a couple times a week doing 15 to 20 miles each time. I used to but with the kids we both cant go. I did it to stay shape she does it because she likes it, so I let her go and I stay home.

The Assenmacher 100 ride was Sunday, there was a 10 year old named Noah who did the 50 mile portion with his MOM & GRANDPA! So if they are rolling at 12 MPH, you can do it too. I think I averaged 13 MPH on my Sunday 20 mile ride, but I stopped to watch some homebuilt airplanes at a fly-in and take some photographs and that got included in my time.
I wish I was closer, I'd roll with that group.

Roughly how far was that? I'm not sure the wife or I are in that great of shape. It does look like fun though.

Not sure I wasn't tracking this ride... Next one I will be... I'm not in shape either but I had no problem keeping up... All shapes and sizes are apart of this... ;)
