Methods/tools for checking belt alignment?

I have a custom accessory bracket on my LT1 that relocates the alternator and deletes the A/C. It keeps eating belts fairly quickly and I can't tell why. Just by eyeballing it nothing looks particularly out of the ordinary. It's a serpentine setup with a solid tensioner. First time it did it it just ate away one of the outside ribs. I then replaced it and things were fine for about 20-30 miles. The other day I checked the belt before leaving, looked great, then after 10 miles of driving it destroyed itself leaving me stranded.

I'm willing to consider that the belt is too tight, however if I install it to the tightness I feel appropriate, the belt will chirp/squeal with the slightest blip of the throttle. I tightened it more to get rid of that, it seemed a little on the tight side, yet the belt still chirped a time or two then it went away.

Are there any good methods/tools to check the pulley/belt alignment?

I have a belt alignment laser that you can use. Only thing is I'm gone till the 24th for military training. Your welcome to use it when I get home

Thanks! I hope to have it figured out by then (ideally before the Dream Cruise) but if I don't I will totally take you up on that!

I live at middlebelt and joy. The tools at Farmington and 5 mile. Just gotta get it from the garage and can meet you somewhere.

Threw it on tonight, having some trouble making sense of the results but it almost certainly shows a significant misalignment. Gonna investigate further tomorrow. Thanks again!!
