My first "hotrod" my 85 ford ranger with a stroked windsor. pretty fast for the day.... (
way before the internet... LOL (pictures are 1989-92)

The car that "replaced" the ranger (joined the navy so needed something reliable...... ) its a 1990 cougar XR-7 supercharged 3.8L 5-speed. killed by a drunk driver new years eve 95-96 :(

Back when you could take a brand new Mustang GT to the drag strip without worrying about showing up on YouTube....;)




 
You could even crash your beater for fun, and not end up in jail...


I remember this was big when I was in high school. I remember some of my friends buying $30-$50 running driving cars for this purpose! Then when they looked like that duster you'd keep driving them anyway till they died.
 
I too ran a pinto wagon for the same purpose. We ran a points system where at the end of the week, whoever had the most "points, or smashes" bought lunch for the fellow participants! Damn, It seemed like I was at the junk yard constantly getting new grilles, fenders, radiators.... Hahahahaha

I miss that Cutlass...shouldn't have sold it! You are correct, I was 15 at the time, and would work on it every day after school. Fuck, I wish I still had that thing.
