Shops or competent people who do side work recommendations please. Ideally somewhere in the general Farmington Hills / West Bloomfield vicinity.
Trying to keep costs reasonable given this is a beater car that already has over 100K miles. Thanks

What kind of car and repairs ?

Is it immobile?

2009 Impala leaking power steering fluid.

I think the car will be drivable once I top off the fluid.

Been taking family cars here for years.

Thank-you Justin.

I've got a guy. :inandout:
Same guy who treats his customers like family and talks about vehicle safety and maintenance on television?
Sort of ironic that someone who preaches safety wouldn't torque the suspension bolts on a Z06 that he knows is tracked (this caused ruined track days).
Then there was the small matter of crimping the fuel line when doing the clutch (I suspect) (which they managed to take a month to do and charge nearly $5,000).
That small crimp took a couple season to rupture. Thankfully I wasn't incinerated or end up like his best pal upside down in a ditch at the end of the main straight at Grattan.
Probably the same guy who gave KS a bogus list of needed repairs on his wife's daily driver.
I was so impressed with their quality and integrity (and this was prior to the fuel line issue) that I drove sixteen hours to have a different shop pull the trans on my turbo car.
I wouldn't let his shop near my cars unless I had a death wish, time to waste, and money to burn.

do you know if its the pump or a line? Rack?
Really not sure. One of our elders took a quick look and mentioned it likely wasn't the pump. Just trying to get an idea what I'm in for if I want to get it fixed or just junk it and lease something new.

if it's the rack, parts can get pricey fast. labor isnt that bad imo, but not sure what the breaking point is for ditching the car for another vehicle is.

Any idear on a ballpark cost on the two options (line/rack)?
Unclear if this is $300 or $3,000.

the rack can start from 200 [for the rack it self] & not including related items to the replacement.
lines, depending on oem or fabricated, might be 50 or 300.

Labor I am not sure as i do not have the book times for looking at.

What overall cost to repair the vehicle is your limit set at?

I'm honestly not 100% sure yet what my f*it and junk it # is.
The car would probably still make a good daily driver for someone - particularly a mechanic who has the skills/time to do the repair I mentioned without spending a fortune.
I reached out to the shop Justin mentioned for an estimate and am waiting to hear back.
Thanks
