i have a 358w and i was going to have trickflow heads good size cam and about a 150 shot any one think a girdle would be a good thing to purchase or will the block hand the power plenty?

The block will handle well over 500, a main support is a fancy band aid IMO. I would spend the money elsewhere on a 351 block...

I had a girdle on my old stock block 347. It was a E7TE casting. No nitrous it went 10.70's and the block let go at 121 mph. The girdle stopped the bottom end from blowing out of the oil pan. I would say it saved my car from hitting the wall.

Any year 351w block will handle 700+ like mention a girdle is a bandaid but if you cannot afford a good block or to have 4 bolr splayed caps put on it then run the girdle it won't hurt, throw the windage tray on with it and take full advantage.

People who break them around 500hp are the people who have shity tunes and detonate pushing the bottom end out.. keep rpm under or around 7k and it'll live

Kind of a tough call here. The older blocks seem to handle power just fine, even though some people consider the weight of a windsors rotating assy to be very heavy (which could move the caps a bit more I believe). The newer blocks I haven't heard too much about people building and spraying them. Some people like them for the roller cam option, but the older, stronger block outwieghs the cost of the lifters. I think any windsor block is much stronger than a typical 302 block, but the weight of the crank and the main bearing size is a downfall. They can make great strokers given the proper cylinder head, but most 351CID 351W wont outrun a good 347 due to the rotating mass and friction losses. Probably a waste of money, put it and more into the heads.

Cat Pep Makes a cheap girdle for about $100. Anything you can do to help reduce flex and cap squirm is a good thing. It can help to stop main web cracking Via Cap deflection.

are you comparing a stock 351 to a 347?? because i know a well built stock bore and stroke windsor can drag a 347
