lt1 vs 97 cobra.... need advice

this weekend this guy came down our way in VA and he was pretty cool. He has a 96-98 Cobra with boltons and a 150 shot. He ended up racing my best friend who has a 96 Formula with a cam, full bolt on (except throttle body) and a built 4l60e... The guy wasn't suppose to spray the cobra but before we left he hit the nitrous. I'm not sure if he was getting everything out of the lines or what but anyways they ran. My friend had REFUSED to put his slicks on and ended up running the guy from a 15 roll and we spun til about 60 and the cobra put about 2 cars on him (the cobra hooked right up) we started pulling on him @ about 75 and pulled within a car at about 105-110 when the cobra let off. NOW MY QUESTION........ did he spray. Has anyone with a cobra or cammed LT1 had a similar run? Theres NOT many cobras down here but a shit load of LT1's. I'm actually a big fan of that model cobra... And I know that theres a few guys on here with them so i'm just wondering if they've had a similar run thanks

If it's just a bolt-ons+N2O Cobra, I'd say yes he was spraying. Your buddies cam'd LT1 is probably a 12 second car and if the Cobra wasn't spraying, you should have pulled on him a lot harder than just a car from 70~110mph. Off the bottle (and assuming the Cobra only has a few bolt-ons), it's probably a mid~high 13's car.

depending on what kind of bolt ons he had.. and like you said your friend spun the tires.. the guy in the Cobra might not have sprayed. Won't really know for sure.

i'd assume that it has gears.. the guy can't drive from what i hear. IF they would of kept goiong we would have been at his door very quick. I'm pretty sure he sprayed it. But when we pulled up he was messing around in the trunk. My friend's lt1 is a 7.70 - 7.80 car in the 1/8th mile. and the cobra is a 8.40 on the bottle. The guy says he didnt spray it and now he is talking shit to a guy with an ls1 so they are running this weekend.

id say if he hooked up he didnt spray unless he had a dr or slick tire out back. I have what would equal a 150 shot with my blower and I spin at 60 most days in mine.

If he can drive and has a tire a geared bolt on cobra should go in the the 12's

the cobra also said that he spun bad to... he spun when he dumped the clutch and hooked right up hitting second so i really don't believe much he says

ehh -- my buddy has a 97 Cobra with an intake and midpipe/catback exhaust + shifter... Thats IT... He went a 13.9 with a shitty 60' time...

If that car can launch, I see no reason why a full bolt on n/a Cobra can't do low 13s high 12s with a good driver...

well i was just wondering what you guys thought since a lot of yal are mustang guys.. Figured you would know more than the lt1/ls1 guys down here lol

i'm pretty sure he sprayed the heck out of it

and my friends formula puts 390 to the wheels

On the bottle, yes. Off the bottle, I'd say I'd have to see it to believe it.

shit search around its all over the place. there somone on this board that had a long tube and 430 geard cobra went 12.8s.

I know somone that had one with flows and a kn drop in filter stock gear and he went 13.6's

A 150 shot should put that cobra around 410-460whp depending on the condition of the motor and the setup
