LS2 flywheel/LS7 Clutch

Will they bolt right up to a 1999 Trans Am? I have a buddy willing to sell me his stock LS2 flywheel with 2000 miles on it and then I'd need to find an LS7 clutch. I heard the combo feels nearly stock and will give way more holding pressure then my factory LS1 setup.

Sweet! I was just wondering because a buddy (who is mostly a ford guy) said he thought LS2 flywheels would only bolt to a later LS1 crank. I couldn't find anything online showing any differences between them.

What do you guys think about the combo? Better to stay with an LS1 flywheel and aftermarket clutch?

I don't know of any differances in the cranks. I may be wrong though.

depends on how much power your gonna be making. They are in a 500hp car to begin with but is much lighter. PM hugger z. he has one behind his 500hp turbo car

that's what i had in my car. i loved it, felt stock and held up great. my car is a '98 so i know it'll work on your car.

I know Mike94ZLT1 had an LS7 clutch on this 99 FRC. There was something about a 0.080" shim... maybe the LS2 flywheel doesn't need it. Might want to double check.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check into that. I talked to Tony (HuggerZ) and he said even pushing nearly 600hp at the crank the LS2/LS7 combo is holding up great. Even with his wide rear tires the only issue is traction.

Get a bit of heat in that clutch and it does not work so well.Textrilla make something based on the ls7 clutch. Stock feel but more clamp pressure and a slightly more aggresive friction material.

That was my actual plan. I was seeing if an LS7 clutch would bolt on an LS2 flywheel on an LS1. I was thinking aftermarket clutch, just a stock flywheel.
