Lots of planes taking off from Selfridge Air National Guard base the past few nights.

Anyone know whats going on at Selfridge? I know I heard they were sending people back to Iraq. Kind of an Erie sound knowing that what I am hearing is planes leaving for Iraq. Anyone on the east side been hearing the racket from there the past few nights? Anybody know anyone who is being sent back?
 
I grew up 2 minutes from there, and right down on of the approach paths. There's always been planes coming and going, every day. :dunno:
 
Yeah, I heard the one at 9 tonight. I have been hearing them every night since Sunday. Last night I thought it was thunder, but was not.
 
were 2 weeks away from the 5th anniversery of 9/11 and there was a major terror plot to take out planes foiled a few weeks back, that may have something to do with added air traffic
 
The past 2 years September 11th has fallen on a weekend. This 9/11 falls on a Monday. And i think the probability for something to happen is getting higher with every year that passes.

They could be doing some exercises there or drills. I saw them do night time touch and goes once when i lived closer on Jefferson.
 
One of my best friends from work is leaving on the 7th of September for Iraq. He said they told him the initial orders were cut for a year, but it could be 2-2 1/2 before he makes it back here!

Nah, there's regulations. They were suspended when we were at war, but technically we've declared an end to that. :hay:
