Sorry not car related...

So I work a ton and stupid hours. Want to take the wife out soon. Hoping to stay within hour and half radius of Macomb/Almont, as we would be dropping the kids of and picking them up the next day, etc...

Would be spending the day somewhere and hotel for the night. Where are you guys taking your significant others out too these days that is fun? She is not a big fan of heading downtown Detroit for a night.

- was considering Ann Arbor Down town. Walk the shops, dinner and some live tunes...

Open to ideas and good suggestions!
Thanks

I am in this exact same boat!
Just made reservations for the in room jacuzzi and can’t wait to eat the chicken parmigiana from the restaurant we will have dinner at, less than a mile from hotel. I also took the honors of ordering her 3 outfits from adore me that will be waiting at the desk when we check in. I believe I’m gona have a amazing weekend.

A while back I did a couples spa/massage at MGM, it was really really awesome. I strongly recommend that, then get dinner after. I live downtown, let me know if you're looking for recommendations.

Why so fancy, I remember when a bucket of fried chicken
and the back seat of the car was a fine night out

Food at the Pretzel Bell in Ann Arbor was good and the price is reasonable. It's also in the middle of downtown so you can walk to many of the local shops.

We stayed at this bed and breakfast in Bay City for the Fourth of July fireworks... Everything was sold out except for the $379 a night suite... The suite is the entire basement which is also connected to the sauna and the hot tub and entertaining area/bar... In the morning thry make you a great breakfast upstairs. We walked to the river area which was a block or so away to watch the fireworks. There was plenty to do along the river there also entertainmentwise/ food. really nice place as you can see by the reviews on Google maps.

I had never done anything like this and it was definitely a place we'll go back. Might want to give that a shot.

Or you can stay right on the river at plenty of other hotels..

What about something up the coast of Lake Huron or the Saint Clair River?
Definitely an option. Thank you

Hmm - I like this if it were more than just the 2 of us going.

Downtown Ann Arbor is a great choice. I would check out Grand Rapids too.

Yes, still considering A2 and hotels are reasonable there.

I am all for this but she is not a fan of the Casino's downtown. Not that we actually have to make it downstairs...:bj:

This looks very nice, thank you for sharing... I am looking into this now.

Still open to ideas (Thanks again)

A few restaurants to check out in Ann Arbor:

Webers, hotel and restaurant.
Chop House
Gandy Dancer
Gratzi
The Earle
Real Seafood Company
Black Pearl (for drinks).

Gandy Dancer just made that Doogie Houser guys top 20 restaurants in the USA. If that means anything... Get a reservation though! Most places use opentable.com.

For my money, though, the best eating places in Ann Arbor all start with "Zingerman's". Best sammiches ever over at Zingerman's Deli on the north end of downtown. Zingerman's Roadhouse has multiple James Beard nominations and at least one win too.

We have done what your planning in Port Huron...the old Edison Inn (can't recall new name) has great view of bridge and water...I would skip the resteraunt at hotel and go to Vintage House by draw bride or Tio Gordos, also close. Walk by water to the Raven for coffee or wine...great place when weather is decent.
