Looking into LSX

Call me. I think I know what your after. However a fast 90 intake is not going to make the power you seem to be after.

Sean, read that post again. About 10,000 aside for motor. Someone was talking about all the other boltons needed. I was simply pointing out, that I already have some of the boltons needed. i.e. FAST 90/90

Wow, I had no idea he had an Eagle crank in there. I guess I should give mine a little more respect!

Yep, Eagle is a respectable company. Im sure a Lunati or something else would have been better but we were on a budget.

Here is the setup we ran last year.. The block is an Iron LS2 block from GM bored 4.080 which makes it a 429 cubic inch. It has a Eagle 4.100 stroke crank, GRP Aluminum rods, Custom Diamond Pistons. The heads are C5-R race ported flowing 400 cfm's. The motor has a custom sheetmetal intake and a Pro Systems Dominator.

In my 3300# Firebird the car went 9.32@144, it has stock suspension with a t400 trans. The motor will see 8's in a lighter car easily.

I would say the car is doing alright, do we like it? We love it..car performs well in the heat and the cold, driveability is actually great seeing as we have taken the car to a few car shows too. The aluminum rods limits you to driveability though.

I already have the Fabbed 9", LSX 90/90 I'm working on rebuilding the tranny, or just buying a Th400. And, I should have about 10,000 for the motor. I figure 6,500 for shortblock, 3,500 for cam heads, pumps. But I don't know. I'm still learning about all this shit. lol

Damn, that is going to be a sweet setup! If you are going NA, I would stick with an Aluminum block if you can swing it. It is only 70 or 80 lbs lighter than Iron, but at the level you are going for it might be worth it. Go Iron if you plan on spraying or boosting it. For heads, I would get some race prepped ET 11 degree LS7 with a GM LS7 intake. The cheap intake will offset the insane cost of the heads. Check them out at etheads.com.

Sean is saying that a FAST 90 isn't going to give you what you're looking for. The FAST intake was designed for use with the cathedral port heads. You are far better off with the LS7/L92 style rectangular ports on a big cube high RPM motor. So plan on ditching the FAST 90 for something like an LS7, L76, a sheetmetal intake, or something like a Victor Jr.

For the person questioning the Iron LS2 block, in 2005 the 6.0 iron block was updated with the new cam and knock sensor locations, along with the 58x reluctor ring essentially making it the same as an LS2 block, aside from the casting material. It is, for all intents and purposes, an Iron 6.0 Gen IV.

BUt Why would I but the LS7 intake if I already have a F.A.S.T 90mm???
