Looking for a good machine shop near Macomb township

I use Fast time racing in Wyandotte. Very good down to earth people who are honest, that's why they get my work and I even order pretty much all my parts through them now. They are also in the process of getting a dyno and setting it up in the shop, best of both worlds in one house; have them build it and prove it out on the dyno before it even goes in the car.

I am looking for a good machine shop to have some work done on my 351w engine. Let me know if you have any suggestions of places close to Macomb township. I have always used automotive machine in Frasier but was not to happy with the work and price last time i used them. Thanks
What kind of problems did you have at automotive machine? Just curious I just got my stuff back from them.

They assembled the longblock and did the machinework basically back to stock minus all arp hardware, cam and supporting hardware, cometic gaskets etc. The engine had cam issues, blow by like a freight train, and wiped out the bearings and crank only after a few hundred miles.

I just had them balance and machine everything and set bearing clearances. I'm still gonna double check everything before it goes together though. Hopefully it's good I have a ton of money in this motor

I hear you. I had almost $4500 in a basic stockish longblock that didn't last 1000 miles

That is sickening.

Did you ever figure out what the root cause was for either situation? Tight cam bearings or not installed/oriented correctly? Rings not properly gapped?

I sold the car but on the test drive it started to drop oil pressure. The guy bought it at a huge loss to me. He sent me pics of the engine pulled apart and the damage. So I never really found out the root cause. Maybe the pump shit the bed and wiped it out.

I have used them many times before and never had a problem. Maybe this last engine was a fluke. Just made me unhappy with the total outcome.

I wouldn't take my lawnmower to automotive machine. Did some work on my Buick motor. Terrible work. It cost me double what they charged to fix what they did.
