I know it's been a while since i've made a post, my sig and pic are kind of property of Slideways now lol... But hello again!

The main reason for my post is that lately i've been watching a bunch of shows on Velocity and Discovery HD and it has stirred up an interest I have in learning how to mig/tig weld.

Is there anywhere or anyone that does classes or is willing to teach me? I'm a quick learner! lol

I took welding at Macomb Community College. Usually they are 2 credit classes, so they are pretty cheap, and you get pretty good machine time the further along you go. Tig was 3 hours once a week for 16 weeks. You have to take an intro class - gas, stick, cutting, etc., then you can take mig or tig.

Nudes?

If you were on the Bestside, Washtenaw has a great Welding/Automotive program

TIG is now 4 hours, once a week. About half that is lecture, the other half machine time.

How long ago were you at Macomb?

I guess it depends who you get. The guy I had spent a few minutes each day showing us stuff then cut use loose. After about three hours I was pretty much shot. I think I took the class in 2008.

John Kacir and Randy Gosset are teaching TIG this semester. Not sure if Scott Kacir teaches it too. I've had each for different classes and have learned tons from each of them. I did go in with very limited welding knowledge, so I didn't go with too many preconceptions, which probably has been a good thing. No bad habits to break.

Yea, Kacir's kid was the TA when I was taking classes. John starts off pretty formal, with lecture, notes and tests. But after about 5 weeks he just put us in the lab for most of the class.
