Livernois Motorsports 2012 Camaro ZL1 Auto Dyno / Track Baseline 100% Stock

I went to the track yesterday and only got 3 passes, so I didn't really get a chance to figure out how to launch the car. I will say it was challenging on street tires, so I left from idle and rolled into it. The 60' was less than stellar, but the car feels pretty good. Definitely a lot of room to improve with a sticky tire and good 60'.. Today, we put it on the dyno and baseline numbers were 476 RWHP / 476 RWTQ.

The level of driveline loss seen in these ZL1 automatics is very disapointing. This is one of the highest baselines for a ZL1 to date

Bad ass car, but my old 2006 SRT8 300 with 20s, Dans tune and a CAI went faster than that. Damn, the MPH has only 6 on Dans old sho and nothing on the 1/4 et... Id like to see it with a tire and a hard launch.

Lowest I've seen....

See here

Several threads claiming more than our car made.

If these numbers through an automatic are the highest ones Shaun has seen to date, then I'd venture to say he's been reading the "Ford" version of the ZL1 numbers. I'd expect the manuals to put down more than what you guys saw in that auto...and mid 11's @ 120 is quite respectable for just a wheel/tire change IMO.

I didnt know Youtube and Camaro5 were "Ford Version" news sources?
Who knew

Example:

On a side note I cant wait to meet up with a ZL1 on the street with my 5.0 I ran 12.6@112 with only a tune!! If I bought a ZL1 and a 5.0 could nearly run door to door I would be pissed!

Rick look at this way you have job security with this ZL1 they need shops like you to make a ZL1 comparble to a stock 2013 GT500!

Rickles, not horrible considering the ECM is still in Green engine break in mode. Right about where you'd think the auto would be if you compare it to my stock CTS-V dyno sheet.

I was just talking about this the other day.. It'll be interesting to see which can be modded and actually support the mods longer.. My guess is the GM as always, the mustangs like to go boom :-)

Well, there's your problem....using Hennesy as a source. They have been suspect of padding numbers to make their packages seem like the do a better job of waking up a car after they've had their way with it. ;)

I'm not biased by make, I like pretty much all of the American made late model muscle cars.

There's no doubt a GT500 is going to make more power than the ZL1 in stock form. Both are awesome cars and both have pluses and minuses in my opinion.

From a dead stop both cars will destroy the stock tires, so you would probably have a good chance racing them with your car from a dig... from a roll the Camaro rips, but again the 5.0 has a weight advantage. I haven't had a chance to drive a Shelby yet, but hope to soon.

I'm just curious what happened to the graph in the dyno vid you posted... Maybe it had 87 octane in it.. It fell off hard up top. Ours pulled until it hit the limiter.

All in all, both are awesome cars and I'm glad to see the muscle car wars going strong! Who would have thought you could buy a car in that price range off the showroom floor and go that quick?

GM engineers run 11.9 @ 116/117.

For perspective, the Camaro ZL1 is so quick that some drivers who experiment with “drag radial” tires or full racing slicks may find themselves going too quick for most NHRA-sanctioned racetracks, where a five-point roll bar is required for vehicles running 11.49 or quicker. The 11.93-second ET in a stock ZL1 tested by the engineers wore the factory-issued Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires developed specifically for it, putting the car only a scant 0.44-second away from that additional racing safety requirement.

Ha, 12.6 wouldn't catch my Grandmothers Cadillac wagon coming home from Kroger full of metamucil . Oh, and that one is 100% stock and has a 100,000 mile warranty.
