Live feed from oil leak ROV

They'll be performing a "top kill" today...might be interesting to watch, although they said it'd take a few days to work
 
something just happened... I was watching and then oil started spewing from behind the main leak, almost like there is another leak now.
 
Nah, it's all just a part of the process. They said this morning that the flow would be changing throughout this top kill procedure...they expect it to take a few days to really stop (if it works). I guess they dump (or pump) a bunch of drilling mud and concrete onto (or into) the pipe
 
yeah, just read about the procedure. they actually fill the lines with a cement mix from a remote spot away from the leak in hopes it will clog the leak. They arent sure if it will be done today because they fear it may blow the well cap completely since this has never been done before.
 
Just how they are doing it right now...flooding the pipe with heavy drilling mud in an effort to slow the flow enough to pump cement in. It's not an easy process, that's for sure.
 
They actually have like 4 or 5 on station...they just switch between feeds.

They're in the middle of the top kill procedure now...monitoring the flow to see if/when it slows down enough (with the drilling mud) to begin injecting the concrete.
