Little project I have been working on for my brother ( Just a Ditch banger snowmobile) More pics

Well decided to start alittle project, My brothers sled was just laying around. A few years back did a Zr580 EFI swap in the sled. Ran real good, Just didn't make enough power. Heres my solution, Mind you the pics are mostly in mock up stages. Got a few goodies on order. But got the exhaust and some small stuff done. Enjoy the dirty,And shitty pics. once everything is set and weld'd I'll make it all pretty.

Pretty cool. I've always wanted to turbo my sled when I get another. I'll wait another year or two and then pick up a cheap IQ or Fusion then slam my XC600SP to the ground and turbo it.

Whats the turbo off of? I was thinking going to the junkyard or ebay and get a stock turbo off of a small car that only puts out a few lbs of boost.

Turbo is a mitsubishi T25 ( Stock 2g DSM turbo)

Fired it today with the turbo, Seems like its gonna run decent. Not this weekend but next I am gonna try and get on the ice for tuning.

I am totally lost when I look at a sled engine..hahaha turning my head at wierd angles.. Bad ass tho!!

How are you controlling the boost?
How about the oil and coolant?

Also how does the hood stay on??? missing the hinges and all :dontknow:

Boost is probably being controlled by the internal wastegate. The turbo might be water cooled...just run a coolant line to the turbo.

Not water cooling the turbo, Oil pump is on its way, its a low pressure 12V fluid pump. I am running a closed system oil set up, The old oil tank will become the turbo oil tank. Hard to imagine, Once done you will see.

For boost I am gonna run wastegate pressure, Untill tuned and proven to run decent on the set up. After that My brother wanted to invest it a electric boost controler.

Hood is a lift off style hood, Held on by straps in front and back.

I add'd alittle oil to the turbo, and started it for a min, Took a horrible video. I will post it up when photobucket gets it upload'd. The sled smoked like a SOB, due to sitting for a few...

Honestly with that kind of setup it might just make more sense to run just run a different (adjustable) wastegate (weld the internal one closed and run an external)...Just thinking of the kind of environment it would be in...the ice/snow/water/salt/etc might take a toll on those electronics.

Or do something along the lines of a cheap manual controler. The sled is set up for ice right now, Wont see trails hardly ever, if ever. After i get everything put together I am gonna pull the sled back apart to and clean everything up and paint/coat everything. The video adn pictures make the sled look way worst then it is. Order'd some skid extenders, gonna stuff a 136" track under it.
so it will be a mild power 580 sled, slammed on a 136" track with picks.

They have shown rather decent Power gain's under forced induction. They seem to enjoy it alittle. :)

It wont be bad to tune, I would much rather prefurr a Carbed sled, But this sled is EFI. GOt a few gadets to tune with and make it run. :)

PS: I need to find a cheap boost gauge, If you have one or know of one for cheap or free. Please let me know!

why didnt you use the pipe and put a flange on the end of the pipe and just bolt the turbo on. then u have the right pipe for the sled. i bet it would run better. get video.
