I am going saturday to take the class and was reading msp's website. Six years ago I was pulled over for driving on suspended. I went to court and was charged with driving on suspended however through the hearing I was only convicted of "no op's in possession". Will this stop me from getting my permit? It also states something about a second of subsequent offense. Any idea what that means? Thanks Motown!

I see no reason for that to stop you from getting a CPL, sounds like you were convicted of not having your dl on you

I'm no lawyer though, so take that for what's its worth

The only thing that will stop you is if you had a felony with in the last five years....

Based on what I posted as long as you do not have TWO driving while suspended in the past eight years you are good to go. The gun board MAY want you to appear in person to explain why you were charged with the DWLS but they can not deny you if it was the only charge in the past eight years.

You will be good. You were charged with DWLS, but convicted of no op's. I've had three DWLS but only convicted once. I got no op's on the other two

Does it state any where how long u have to go untill u can apply if u were pulled convicted of driving on suspended licence

Like said before they will make you go in front of a board, I had one on mine but I just called in and explained and they pushed it through

NO FELON can EVER possess ANY gun much less a CPL unless it is expunged or pardoned etc.(So no 5 year felony rule)
What I posted is the list of disqualifying MISDEMEANORS that you can not have on your record for eight years prior to applying for your CPL.

Operating a locomotive under the influence of intoxicating liquor or a controlled substance, or while visibly impaired, MCL 462.353(4)

LMAO

Ok what kind of reason are they looking for. I drove because I had to go to work. My job required that I could drive so getting a ride would have raised a bunch of flags and questions. It was a bad idea and I paid for it but out of pocket and at work.

I wouldn't say you were trying to fly under the radar. I would say you had no choice to drive to work once, you were pulled over and issued a ticket. Don't say you were contentiously driving and breaking the law.
