Lawn Care...

So I have about 2 acres I cut. I'm really mostly concerned with my front acre over my rear, but I'd like to treat both maybe 2x a year if that is possible. I want to keep it green and grub/weed free. What can I do maybe 2 times a year that'll help the most? What products work the best? I don't want to spend a zillion dollars if possible, but people refer to our house and the "ranch with the nice yard" and I'd like to keep it that way.

Ive used Hersches Chemical/Lawn spray for my lawn (1.5acres) & perimeter spray around the house (several times a year) for 20...maybe 25+ years now... had to treat for grubs and moles several times.... Although I'm close friends with a guy that's worked there for 30 years, the company itself has been very professional. They always make contact with us to make sure the date/time is good with us before they spray or broadcast.... they always pick up dog/pet/kid toys and move them. Myself Ive been very happy with their service. I also sent them to do my parents lawn/ perimeter spray for bugs for several decades.... Their number is 1800thelawn. They give free estimates..... Ive been with them so many years they charge me like half price so I don't know how competitive they are...but they were and may still be the largest chemical distributor in the state. Landscape company's are always lined up at their warehouses picking up product. If you want to do it yourself they sell the products wholesale... but I find it way less of a hassle to jut let them do it.

I have five acres to mow, so I understand how expensive it can be to put down any chemicals. I bought two jugs of this last year and treated 2 acres with it. I mixed it with water and used my pull-behind sprayer attached to my lawnmower to spread it. Basically, one $55 jug treats an acre.

After two weeks, I was thinking it was a complete bust. One day during the third week I looked outside and ALL of the weeds were dead. The lawn looked great the rest of the year, without any "feed" treatment.

I am planning on using the same product again this year, once in spring and once in fall.

DAMN that's a lotta mowing...

DIY lawn care is always something I have struggled with. I've had a few services do it and it looks great.

Trying the scotts program I almost never get the same results and its a lot more work for about the same cost. I'm going to switch to a service again next year.
