Who here does their own as in fertilizing ect??? Debating if I should hire a company or do it myself... I have ZERO clue on this and I know there is quite a few of you on here that do it... Tips??? Tricks? Links??? I'm all ears...

I hired a company last year since my yard was smoked from Grubs that cost me $300+. This year I'm basically following the plan they used and taking care of it myself since I did all the re-seeding/topsoil etc. repairs myself last year. Right now you should be putting down fertilizer and crabgrass preventer since it's the season for it. Late may/early june you'd be wanting to do traditional weed & feed, then a late summer round, and a fall one. Menards has the crabgrass on sale for 14 bucks right now after a 4 dollar mail in rebate for 10k sq feet which is enough to do your yard.

I use these East Side guys called Sand River who took over a company I originally used called New Grow Tech. They hit it about once a month, and I don't have any weeds. It is $42 or so per month. I am sure I could do it for $10 per month if I bought my own stuff, but for the same reason I pay the the lawn mowing guys, I don't have to worry about it. sandriverlandscaping.com

Am I in the minority? I couldn't care less what my lawn looks like. As long as its green I don't care. I do have 2 acres of it but I just don't care.

Why would I want to buy crabgrass, even if it's on sale? You westsiders are so crazy. You can have mine for free. Just need to dig it up

I'm new house shopping and neighbors take great care of their lawn so mine needs to not stand out as an eyesore when it eventually goes on the market.

My neighbor across the street is retired and he spends more time on his lawn then a full time job! It looks no better then mine. I get it cut every 2 weeks, wither it needs it or not. That's it. My dog fertilizes it plenty.

I'm a licensed Pesticide Certified in 3A, 3B, 6 & 10 by the State of Michigan.

I wouldn't trust someone else applying chemicals on my lawn. Many times its
too strong - other times its just water! I have never worked for one of those
lawn company's that spray peoples lawns, but that is what I've been told.

For my own lawn, I don't ever use any "weed or feed". I just use a little
Round Up (salt) to kill weeds in the driveway & around buildings & trees.

Its called "liquid weed whipping".

This, although I don't know about any sale or how much of a yard you have.

use Scotts !!!!! do it yourself its easy ....I lightly apply seed starter fertilizer 3 times a year get a scotts spreader follow the directions on the bag .... use ortho dandelion spray with your garden hose

cut it once a week .... water it when it looks bent over

it aint rocket science

I use the Lowes stuff. I like it better than Scotts. I just put Crabgrass Fertilizer last weekend
You should put the Grub Stuff down now, even if you dont have any..It strengthens the roots, I still have to do this but I have been outta town.

The more weeds that grow in my yard... The more that shit sticks to my dogs and I gotta cut/pick it out...

We have a one acre yard in a pretty nice neighborhood. I'm paying a service this year to see what happens, but I've done the math and I can't do it for any cheaper...and I don't have to waste my time. And I guess we'll see if they just spray water.

I've used the landscape company that installed my sod and sprinklers. I can't do it any cheaper, the guy that comes out takes it pretty serious. My lawn looks perfect from spring to fall. I know near the lakes all chemicals and amounts of it put down must be reported to the health dept. or DNR.
