Lakeland VW Classic and Herbie the Love Bug's 40th Birthday

Here's some pics from my trip to Florida this past weekend. Nice to visit 80+ temps in the middle of March and to view some kickass VWs. Not to mention getting to see the space shuttle launch from my buddy Greg's backyard while doing an impromptu clutch replacement on a freshly restored movie Herbie. Really cool group of events. We had 3 original movie Herbie's in attendance, along with a Herbie given away at the grand opening of Walt Disney World in 1971. We also had a visit with Chuck Smith who worked for VW performance gurus EMPI, and who was in charge of building the first Herbie cars for Disney in 1967. Actor Joaquin Garay III who played Paco in Herbie Goes Bananas also came from California with his family to take part in the festivities. I just wish I had my car done to bring down with me. Oh well, Here I go in to pic whore mode

I had lots of favorites from that show. Mostly cause I'm one of the only ones with VWs of this quality in PA. But this was by far the coolest. A 47 Split Window. Would have been kilelr if it was left stock, but a lowering job and wheels can be undone in a weekend.
