L92 aftermarket cam help

Any advise on a cam for me cant do much do to limited funds, but this is what i got... 2008 l92 bone stock just gonna do some long tubes and other lil things but def wanna ddrop in a cam and i would like to drop in something radical sounding that can give me sweet gains and sounds sweet and thats what im lookin for. All advise will be appreciated. I already purchased the cc gen iv ls vvt 275phr-14, at $456 or something.. I was told it wont sond that radical just a good idle lump sound, i would love to drop in something radical but not sure what i can do. If i can get something like i want ill need to sell this cc model. Im new to these motors and to motownmuscle, so if you can help out it will be great. Thanks

Thanks for the bites fellas,, well for what im wanting a radical sounding cam, if i have to replace the springs and retainers then i guess i will have to. I plan on shooting 100shot in it too if you think its safe. There are a couple of cam posts on here that sound mean and sexy, thats what i really want to do. I do have the crane cams camshaft here that i guess im not gonna be using here im gonna most likely return the ticket was like $460 or something.

hands down, I'd go see sean over at c.a.r.s cant say enough about how much he knows about these motors. he's even helping me with a ls base motor i am building.
 
big and nasty with the proper low end power curve for a 4200lb car are very non intersecting goals. Is your plan to run the stock l76 intake and throttlebody or are you planning something different ?

Details pertinent to your build up would be things like gear ratio, intended usage and other information on the engine. is the engine a VVT engine with DOD ? if so you can't run the xer,lsl,lsk or even the XE lobe without introducing valve train instability and you'll also need different springs.

What exactly do you have ?

ditch the DOD and run a 'small' cam. I have a livernois stage I L92 cam and I am pushing my 5200lb truck into the 13's. I would not want too much lift or radical lobes with the big ass intake valve, a few guys I know have half assed them together and broke off a valve.

Sean, Livernois, Joe (Stenod) will all be good sources of info.

I would love a 96SS with a LSx engine in it.
 
if u want a radical cam ur ganna need a bigger than stock converter.....with the right cam and exhaust u should see over a 100rwhp gain from stock......GET RID OF THE VVT AND DOD.....its a must
 
I was told so, thats gonna be the plan, i guess i need to change the timing cover and some other things, but i forgot what exactly. I spoke with sean today sounds like a straight up guy i learned a couple things from him already i will be talkin w/ him for some other advise and possibly pickin up some parts from him too.. Actually does anybody have these parts i will be needing, that will be a + for me

yes i got a nice 3200 or 3500stall, my trans is built very nice and plan on using it, its the original lt1 4l60e from my car. I was told i need a spacer and something else for converter clearance. I was told tci carries this kit
 
If you get a TCI flywheel kit and or run the hd2500 2000-2005 4l80e 6.0L truck flexplate and crank spacer you don't have to change anything.

i would like to keep the trans cause its built already i was just gonna go ahead with the flywheel kit.
