News flash: No one cares about education unless it involves closing schools to give tax payers a few more dollars in their pockets. There's a solution, close more schools+cut more jobs for teachers=put more money into the tax payers pocket. Here's the effect: Higher student to teacher ratios, Less one on one time with students, less IPI's (individual prescribed instruction), a.k.a. an inferior generation in comparison to the rest of the world. I can agree that their should be a shift in academic curriculum, such as a bigger foucus on media as suggested but I also agree that their needs to be a focus on physical education and nutrition. If you haven't noticed there a huge epidemic in terms of our childrens obesity rates due to a sedetary lifestyle from these new areas of inerest. Sure you can have your 650 lb Albert Einstein sitting at home on his computer typing new mathmatical equations to alter the human genome but the problem is he'll be dead within the next two years of a massive heart failure or stroke. My vote goes towards more p.e./health ;)
