So I fired up my little Subaru Outback yesterday to drive it (been sitting) and all is well except it threw a code. I hooked up autotap and it's a knock sensor code. Also noticed that while driving it, it seems as though the timing is advanced/retarded erratically (power cuts in and out).
My question is this: does anyone have experience with knock sensors to the point that you'd suggest I buy another and install it, or do they rarely go bad and it's probably the wiring? I hate to throw $90 parts at a car for no reason, and it's under the intake manifold so it's a teardown job....
Anyone?
