KAHR CW-9 question inside

My brother in law has a Kahr CW-9 with leather conceil holster that he really doesn't use anymore. Has the stainless slide has had some rounds through it i'd say around 600 or so, no wear other than from him carrying it. He went to a glock 26. I have a Ruger P89 stainless with extra luger barrel hogue grips and 2 clips. Value on both guns is about the same i believe, unless you guys know otherwise? We did a quick search and used value on both guns is about 350. Would a straight up trade be worth it? He's looking for a full frame to just shoot with, and i want a carry peice/something different. I've had my gun 11 years, and it's just sat in the case, maybe 500 rounds through it. NO scratch or damage ever.

Fair or no, and how good/reliable is the KAHR? THanks, i'm not a gun "expert"

All other things being equal... Any gun that you are going to use is worth more than one that just sits in the case. Go for it

LOL yeah i get that, i just don't want to carry around a cheapo chincy gun. The P 89 is a solid gun and i've had a lot of luck with it, as does my buddy who has the same one. I just don't know many people with KAHR guns. My poor P 89 spent i think 6 years without seeing the light of day! I want to pick up a carry piece in place of this one till i get in the new house and have a place/safe to store multiple guns.

i have a PM9 and it's been perfect and far from a chinese piece of crap. I would pick the PM9 over the walther PPS or the sig P290 if that makes any difference.

First thing I would do is go to the range with it and shoot it. If it feels good, accurate and you like it, than go for it. I would shoot it first though and compare it. Hell, I'd even have him bring that Glock 26 to the range. Play with that too. See what trigger feels the best and what fits good in your hands.

Me too. The PM9 is one of the top subcompact 9mm pistols out there. The CW is a slightly larger, "cheaper" version of it. The slide is a different alloy of stainless steel and has fewer machining operations, the barrel isn't "match grade", and the front sight is pinned so you can't adjust or put nightsights on it. All of the important parts are identical. They're very small and not necessarily fun-to-shoot but for a pocket sized pistol, they go bang every time.

Kahr pistols are made in Worcester, Massachusetts, just up the road from Springfield where some of the best guns in the world were made for many years. They certainly aren't Chinese crap.

THis was exactly what i was looking for. I don't care if it's a match grade barrel. It's for carry use only. Not really concerned with how it "feels" or that it's deadly accurate, i just need it to be deadly so to say! Like i said, i don't mind it being a "cheaper version" as long as it's not "cheap junk". If it serves it's single purpose, to protect me if needed and throw a bullet out when i ask it to, i'm good with that. I'll get another gun to go have "fun" with at the range.

I have shot a Glock 26, it's a nice gun, fast trigger, light, and durable. But i just don't have the funds to go that route ight now. I would rather trade the one off i have now, for something i will get more "use" out of.

No problem. One thing to note about Kahrs is that because of the high angle of the feed ramp, they don't slingshot well. Polishing the ramp can help but they recommend using the slide release (stop) lever to chamber a round.

Sell your Ruger for $350 and buy a used Glock for $425. You're talking about $75 for something you're betting your life on.

Kahr's are very slim guns but can have a few quality issues - the Glocks are thick but they run like a tank.

I read that somewhere, if you ride the slide whil chambering the first round it will get hung up. But he also said if he lets the stop load it its perfect everytime. WHen inspecting the gun i did notive the clide angle seemed aggressive. Thanks Again

I know they do, but everyone has one, and i know there's a reason for it. I just don't like to have what everyone else has. And befor you say "but you had a mustang" It was cheap and easy...lol Other wise i'm the guy always doing something other than the crowd. But if the deal doesn't work out for the Kahr, i will sell mine and try to find a good deal on a Glock. But i really do like the Single Stack idea.

Ruger lc9?

mag release on the kahrs are pretty bad imo.. i wouldnt buy one, i really liked the xd9c over the g26 just bc of overall feel but if glock had a single stack sc like the lc9 without all the safties and da trigger id be all over it

I liked the g26 and xd9sc when I tested em out, next on the list is the s&w mp9c.

I have a mp9c. Love mine. Perfect for carry, great quality and very accurate.

You could go with a slim frame Glock but you probably wouldn't be able to pick one up as cheap as a 26
