Just for reference...

Well, I spent about 3 hours the other day just waxing the truck and polishing the front bumper, then the next day about 2 hours polishing 2 wheels. Other 2 wheels still need to be done and the interior still needs to be done, that'll be another 4 hours at least....I HATE owning nice things but at the same time it's nice. I just really dont like dd'ing my truck. :(

I spent about an hour on the wife's Charger yesterday. Washed, vacuumed, Armor All on the dash, trim and tires, wiped off the wheels and cleaned the glass. Changed the oil, checked the tire pressure, and called it a day. That's plenty.

The Jeep is filthy right now. I haven't really washed it in 2 weeks, but I have sprayed it off twice. I was going to do it today, but it's raining. Maybe tomorrow night.

It will get washed, vacuumed, armor all treatment and a bit of underhood cleaning. That's enough for me.

As soon as I get a nice weekend, it's getting a full claybar and polish to work on the swirls from the previous owner...

Re: how dirty it was before...it really wasn't. I take REALLY good care of my cars. My DD looks nicer than most people's toys cars. Re: UV prtection...I have limo tinted windows all around and 35% on the windshield. Plus I have suede seats so the surface area of the leather I can actual clean/condition is pretty minimal.

Pix do not do it justice, but you asked, so...

It will stay in the garage all day today. I'm praying that tomorrow will be nice sunny and dry for when I have to drive the car. :D

.....you missed a spot :D

I spend as much time as I need to. Whether it's 20 minutes, or 15 hours. Not kidding. My old Silverado I spent 15 hours on the exterior. Clayed, polished, and waxed (sealant). The polishing took the majority of the time, as I corrected the paint (85-90% correction).

On my current car, I vacuum once every two or three weeks, but it doesn't get dirty because I have towels and rubber mats on top of the towels. I dress the dashboard, console, door panels etc weekly. I use Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer on that because it provides a clean, non greasy shine. The QID basically makes things look new.

My truck gets abused. I wash it when it gets muddy thats about it. Now the boat on the other hand.... Keeping that clean is like a second job. White seats are such a pain in the ass!

Looks clean on the out side for sure.

There use to be a prix like yours out on grashit about a year ago and had a system in it that hit pretty hard... Sadly the guy didn't know much about the strain of his system and his HIDs would flicker due to electronic power loss.

Twice a year I get the Makita out and polish the GTO. That process is usually wash, clay, 50/50 wipe down, polish, polish, wash, then wax or sealant. Those sessions are usually 8+ hours. The car is washed at least once a week and gets waxed three to four times a month. Sometimes I'll hit the car with a QD to knock the dust off and add a coat of wax. In the winter I'll put a sealant on the car since sealant lasts longer than most paste waxes. In about a week I'm going to pull the wheels off of the car and clean the insides and put some wheel sealant on them. Wheel sealant just makes keeping wheels clean much easier. I usually seal the wheels a couple times a year.
My truck gets washed on a weekly basis. I've got some new stuff I'm going to try out on it next week that's supposed to hold up to the elements pretty well.
Trying to keep a black car clean is a full time job.

i probably spend about 60 + or - hours a week detailing  not all on my own vehicle though!
My truck usually gets washed and waxed atleast every friday or saturday. I'll clay bar it here and there as it needs it (the truck doesn't fit in my garage so it sits outside everyonce in a while the tree in my front yard poops sap all over it) usually just a quick vacuum and wipe down on the interior. Husky floor mats help keep the floors from ever getting dirty. about once a month it gets dusty/dirty enough that i'll go through with some foamy interior cleaner and the air compressor and blow everything out.

I've changed both head gaskets in my car by myself in less time than that. So yeah, I'd say that's too long so spend cleaning a DD

Seems most people think I spent too long detailing.

And it looks like I won't even get 1 clean drive out of my hard work. :shake: Looks like rain for a good portion of the day tomorrow. :pissed:

I typically detail my daily driver while my gas is pumping. I grab all the garbage out and clean the windows.

i think i washed my car once back in like 2004

*2. My daily driver gets washed whenever it's at the dealer for service or an oil change.

The Vette usually gets washed when I pull it out of storage, just before the Dream Cruise, and just before it goes back into storage.

These are cars - not paintings in a museum.. They are meant to be driven and a little dirt isn't going to hurt..

washed my car 3 times in the year and a half i've owned it. the most recent was a trip through the $2 carwash. maybe i'll care more about it when it looks a little nicer.

All my car and cars around me get cleaned like that, at least every 3 months i fully detail my car or and trucks even if the sit outside, I still do it.

I lived on a dirt road most my life and i still did it, and when i took my trucks off radding i still would spent 9 hrs detailing them witch is why i got my own damn power washer due to spending 40+ bucks in quarters everytime i wash them, until i got kicked out of the ones around me for clogging drains...

Once the paint work is done on the stang it will be that way as well, i tend to have a good time cleaning my cars & trucks & toys. Hell even my house.

So no bro its a pride thing, you take care of the things you work hard for...

and it looks great by the way......
