John's 1992 Camaro Project

Spoken like a true grudge racer..lol
No idea what it run's probably low 12's on motor and mid 10's on nitrous. It's got the sphon tubular suspension, pan hard and cross member. Has lakewood shocks up front with strange rears, moser axles ect...

C2YT...I live in Carleton on Matthews, there are at least 5 others on here that are as well.....you will be seeing us all around this summer. You can bet on that....

Sounds like a good upgrade, hopefully the chip burning process goes as planned. Looks great like mine, from about 50ft. :) Get those rims back to looking factory clean! A posi rear axle with 3.42's would be a good upgrade also if you keep an eye out at salvage yards. Goodluck

Awesome that is great to hear! What do you guys drive? I literally live five minutes away LOL

AutoRoc, that is the plan! I actually have a set of chrome C5 Wagon wheels to put on with 2 inch adapters. I'm also on the hunt for a LS1 rear with 3.42s so I wouldn't have to use adapters in the rear. We will see how that goes!

Also am I reading your signature right? Turbo 4200? I HAVE to see some pictures!

Welcome. Nice little project you have there. Im sure you will find that most of the members of this forum aer great resources to use for locating parts and info if you ever need it.

Man that 4200 iroc project sounds and looks absolutely awesome! Totally off the wall and unpredictable. There is a guy in Toledo I know that has a 3.1/3100 hybrid turbo build that runs high 11's at Milan.

Thanks for the nice comments guys, updates will be coming soon! I forgot to add a list of some modifications I have in store besides the engine:

- Flowtech Shorties with a custom Y-pipe
- Hotchkis: Panhard Bar and Lower Trailing Arms (I know I will need SFCs)
- 87' Iroc rear: 3.23s w/ disks
- Grey Interior Swap
- 4th Gen grey cloth seats

It should be pretty decent, obviously not top of the line but I will definitely be proud of it when I am done.

Also who knows when the "moderator has to approve before this post can be seen" will go away?

Golden, who did you sell your car to? Me and my buddy Brando know pretty much every thirdgen running around monroe.

Can't remember his name. It was nothing special, a 305 4bbl car with 190k on it.

I've seen it for sale a time or two on Craigslist since then. Ended up in Dearborn for a bit. Lost track after that.

6 banger swap with boost is the bees knees, there are more than a few on this site, jim's is really nice. It is unique but I almost regret not doing a Vortec 3700 5 cylinder just to be THAT more unique. It would easily be the ONLY one on the planet.

Find a good driveshaft. An ls1 takeout maybe or a steel aftermarket piece. Less vibrations, stronger. All of my stockers vibrated.

Man I would love to boost the 3.1l in the 91' but I just don't have the money right now if something goes wrong. I do plan to do it before I go off to college.

Also, I didn't have any vibration with the driveshaft on he way home. If I notice something later on when the project is "finished" I will be on the lookout for an aluminum 4th generation driveshaft.

Alright, another 3rd Gen!!! Looks like a nice project. Hard to find rust free ones. Good Luck! here's a pic of mine.

That's one beautiful trans am! I have seen you around Mifbody also.

As for some progress I'm going to head out into the garage later on today. Plan to tackle the harness and a few other little things.

Unhooked the ECM, and started to tear down the heater core (it was leaking). Got to a standstill when I couldn't pull the hoses off from inside the engine bay. Any tips or tricks? I couldn't seem to pry them off with just muscle.

That was sort of my guess too. Trying to save money where I can though, maybe a heat gun would do a good job to soften it up and expand the tube?
