Joels on Joy

the trans in my car came from joels but it was in there when i bought the car... i havent had any problems with it so far and intended on taking it back there when i did untill now... ive met riddings and he is a nice and polite guy... he even took the time to explain what was wrong with each part and what the normal cause was
 
Joels built an AODE for me a few years ago.

It took lots of abuse in a heavy drop top car with juice. Then it got even more abuse from the solid cam, 11.2 to 1, 347 later on. The trans never missed a shift and I abused the hell out of it.

I do remember waiting a while to get it done however, and he wasnt very personable, But in the end I was very happy with my trans.
 
joel did a gear swap for me years back i didnt have any problem with him.
any time i have call him he hooks me up with the rite info,nice guy.
my current trans was done by detroit gear box,i bought it from bigblockford,its badass,if it needs gone through thats where i will take it.

Joel took very good care of me last year when I got fucked by a member here on the board. Yeah, it took awhile longer than I would have liked and yeah he isn't the most personable guy......but that wasn't a big deal.

I paid him to fix a trans not ear fuck me.
 
The c4 in my car was built by Joel, as well as the convertor. I haven't talked to him personally but he does good work evidently cuz my trans has worked out great.

Pretty much my feelings too.

I called around and he gave me the best price. Everyone quoted me around the same time frame (middle of race season). I mostly dealt with Shawn who was cool. As for Joel, I wouldn't call him personable but he wasn't a dick to me either. I sent a friend of mine to him and he treated him just fine as well. When it comes down to it I'd rather the guy be blunt and straightforward with me than a polished salesman. At least with Joel I knew it was going to take a while from the beginning and he didn't promise me a week only for it to turn into a month. He also told me up front that he'd personally change out a few of the components in my trans (was just having it freshened) and explained why, but said that I'd most likely be fine at my power level and to just keep it in mind for the future.

I can't comment on the trans itself as I haven't run it yet, but from everything I've ever heard about his work I'm not worried in the least.
 
He did my glide and was quick, cheap, and even told me it would be a terd with my 3.73's...he was right. Even offered to give me a 3 speed instead as I was picking up the 2 speed from him, full well knowing that it would be quicker in my car. I'd say I have 3000 miles on it and 100+ passes on it, not a hickup.
 
joel is the man I have used his stuff for 13 years he knows his chit he tells it like it is nothing is sugar coated he treats everyone the same he is not in buisness to make friends if you want a badass trans he is the place to go
 
He always did great work to our proflight in kenny comptons junk. He might be arrogant but I don't know any one else that would pick up a trans and go thru it at 10pm and return it in the early morning so we could go racing that weekend.

sold to a guy in St Louis I think 4 yrs ago. Haven't heard anything else about it in 3 yrs.
 
the guy that bought it kept driving it in Hot Street. hood was different or something

skinny kid race cars and glidden power have that effect on mustangs
 
I basically agree with everyone else. Joel does killer transmissions and I've never had a problem with them, but he is kind of a dick. Ridings did the trans and converter for my street car, the rear end for my street car, and is freshening the trans for my race car. Very happy with his work so far. One thing I have to admit is the trans in my race car was purchased used and it's from Joel and that thing is awesome. I'm not nice to it at all and it has a lot of hard passes on it. When it goes to Ridings in a few weeks we'll see what he has to say about it.
 
I don't care how good someone is at the job, if they're arrogent and not pleasent to deal with, they don't deserve your business IMO.

I would recommend Detroit Gearbox. Rich is very knowledgeable, very personable and is always on here giving advice to members in need.

Joel did my trans I dont think he's a dick ...he's always swamped and dont have time to hang out and shoot the shit with ya ...and being as he is always swamped should speak for its self ..for what its worth he will be my trans ubtil he retires ...
