Joe Ruggirello, Gapp and Roush Mustang II

Well here's another neat piece of SD history! This photo of the car with Jack Roush taken January 1977, but not published until August of 1995 in Hot Rod! I just found this over this past weekend while I had the car at the National Parts Depot show at Silver Springs (pics to follow). Guy there knew the car and actually had it in his warehouse storing it for a friend right there in Ocala, FL! He told me about this issue and article.

Here is a bit more history on the car as well. Got these pics from Ed Kraus in Ocala who had the car stored for a friend, Carl Schoeller who owned the car in the mid 90's. I now know the entire ownership history of this car. That was the missing piece of the puzzle. Ed is a great guy, even ran home for the pics and brought them back up to the show for me. These would be about 1995. The pic of it at Gainesville Raceway was when it was there for sale. Funny, I took pics of it that same day, but never saw anyone with the car! Not long afterward, it was sold and taken to New Jersey by way of Indiana.

Enjoy!

P.S. thats Ed in the back and I was lucky...the distributor was still with the car, though not installed when I got it.

Here is a photo from the National Parts Depot show at Silver Springs in Ocala, FL last weekend. It was the first time the car has been shown. Thats me with Dennis Gage from My Classic Car tv show. We did an interview and they took quite a bit of footage of the car. I was told it would air this summer sometime.

Here are a couple of pics taken at Silver Springs. Before you guys give me grief, the air cleaner is actually what they had on the car in the first articles/photos prior to the "sudden death" piece. No doubt it would/will be removed as "needed" :smokin:

Hi Tom,

Wonderful news ! You did it ! ! !

Thanks for sharing the last piece of the puzzle and for Ed's photos and the photos from the show.

SD just looks better and better...

We're all looking forward to seeing and "hearing" SD :icon_mrgr

I now know the entire ownership history of this car.

PS - no problem with the air cleaner being on there. That's how I remember it from the article, too.

Original owner Joe Ruggirello and his car. Photo taken January 1977 as part of the same photoshoot done by Gray Baskerville for the "Sudden Death" article in Hot Rod Mag. I believe this photo was taken at the Gapp & Roush shop. The rest of them were taken on/near Farmington Road only blocks from the G&R shop on Schoolcraft Rd.

Great pic. I'm still looking for a pair of those rear slicks he used, 29.5x15 Firestone Drag 500's.
