Joe Ruggirello, Gapp and Roush Mustang II

More progress...engine compartment is now completed other than the header work. Interior carpet, headliner, some seat cover stitch repair, and made to fit floor mats now completed. Also had some sleeves made to protect the roll bar door bars from getting beat up. I'll be spending the weekend finishing the interior and assembling the now restored driveshaft.

More to come! Next up is header work sometime in September, then engine break-in runs.

Don't worry, the carpet isn't different colors, just the lighting and my phone lol.

Awesome the challenger that ran around the same time as this was at the Woodward dream cruise. Definitely made me think of this! Can't wait to see the finished product

I am currently restoring Jimmy Addison's Silver Bullet II Plymouth Duster to period correct condition. He never completed it...I bought it in the mid 1970's, sold it in 1985...bought it back in 2010. This was going to be his ultimate weapon...2,650 lbs with a Hemi. Here are some pics.

Interior completed today. To maintain as much history of the car as possible, the entire dash area, steering wheel and column, door panels, seat covers, and all surrounding side panels are original and un-restored, other than cleaning. The seat belts are original to the car, I just re-dyed them to freshen them up. Even the battery box lid is original to the car as built in 1975. The carpet and headliner are new. The tunnel area was re-done after the earlier pic to get a more original look to it.

Very Cool never new about this car ! NOS Baby ! NEAT OLD SHIT !

The interior is now 100% done. Been working on the fiberglass bumper restoration. They were a mess after over 35 years, so its taken huge effort to bring these back and save them. There were never intended to last this long lol. The only other significant work left is the headers, which is supposed to get done this month. I had them built after turbo removal, however, the flanges need to be re-worked for the heads. Also moving the oil filter back to its original location will require some tube re-work as well. Expecting to fire the engine by the end of October if everything comes together. Worst, case, first of November it should be running again!

Couple of pics of the bumpers. Still some blocking to be done. These were originally installed over the winter of 1976 when Gapp & Roush put the car on a diet when Jack did the 505" upgrade to the engine. They fabricated aluminum brackets. These were put on in just bare gray gelcoat. Plan is to keep them as they were originally done in light gray, rather than paint them body color.

Tom,

Looking great!!!

I still vote you paint the bumpers body color......I remember the car with it's original bumpers.....but that's just my opinion.

Keep up the great work!

Brian

Little update...bumpers are finished! I think they turned out great. A bit of polishing and they'll be ready for installation. Blasted and cleared the original brackets. Header work to begin any day now.

Sorry Brian, they had to match the 1977 photos showing the fiberglass bumpers, so they had to be gray :)

Those square bumper bolt holes...well, lets just say that was not easy to do!
