Job decisions...

So this morning, I got a job offer..... Way too good to turn down. Its a 15K raise!!! Only problem is, that it requires me to move. Not just out of the county. But out of the state. All the way in Cincinatti. Which means I have to pull my 8 year old out of the school hes grown used to, and throw him in somewhere that he knows nobody and has to start all over again. Hes not too good on making new friends. They all want to play GI Joes, and he wants to ride his dirtbike and work on cars. Gotta love a GearHead! Not to mention, I think the boyfriend just got a new job today. UGH. Holy confusing.

Sorry... just wanted to vent a little. I never thought more money would be so damn stressful. Guess Im just used to having NONE. LOL Should I take it or stay here and possibly lose my job to downsizing? Family? Or Money? *pounds head on keyboard*

Take it. The BF can move down once you get situated and with his new job, he can take his time to find the perfect job down there. The kid, while it's never fun to have to move away from your friends will survive just fine.

How stable is the job u'd be moving for? Is your cost of living going to be more in Cincinatti?? I know some areas there aren't too nice. 15k is quite a raise, but is it worth it to chance the safety of your son??

Thats another struggle. I dont know anyone down there, to steer me clear of the 'bad' areas. The job couldnt be better. They want to bring me down there and completely train me. And when they do, I will be able to go pretty much anywhere nationwide, and have a very healthy paycheck.

If you move now it's still early enough for your kid to make friends for the summer (or maybe there's a summer camp nearby). Realtors should be able to help advise you of decent areas. Would you want to / have to move again after the training? If you will be, then maybe the area doesn't matter much at all, but that would be stressful on your kid knowing that by the time he gets some friends again, he'll be gone.

take a road trip and check out the town. sounds like it would be a good expeirence. cinci's not too far from here, you can still come back for vacations and what not if you have family here. if your worried about the area figure out where you'd be working and find a house/neighborhood like within an hour's commute.

my dad got transfered alot when i was little. it was like every 3 or 4 years we were moving to a new state. we came back to michigan a couple times. i hated it then but i look back now (22 yrs old) and think of all the things i got to experience. ive traveled more by the time i was in highschool than most of my buddies have to this day. its much easier for me to make friends now, i was pretty shy when i was little. ive got all kinds of stories from different places, great conversation starter that doesn't involve cars . its gotten me interested in traveling alot more. I say go for it.

with things like myspace and all the messanger stuff on the internet today its easier to keep in contact. by the time he's old enough to drive it will make for a great road trip excuse.

here's a tip.. if u break down in the middle of january coming back from Miami with a flat tire in cincy, there is no place open to fix/replace a tire in the middle of the night.. the donut will let u make it back to detroit though lol

Anyone know of any decent areas down that way? My boyfriend is a diesel mechanic, so I know that he'll be able to find a decent job.

I wouldnt have to, but I could if I wanted to. There arent many females in the field of work that Im in. That makes things a little easier too. It just seems like a huge step, and I dont know if Im ready to do all that.

Florence is just across the river. My ex lives in that area now. Her family was down there when we were dating, so I spent quite a bit of time down there. Forence is nice. Not huge, but also very country'ish, so you can still get your high speed internet, live with lots of land and within 10 minutes be in the middle of a massive city.

Check out Butler County, Fairfield area. Its 20 minutes north of Cinci. My uncle just moved down there. Ford transferred him from Cleveland to Cinci.

Beautiful area, with great housing, shopping. Real clean area!
