Ok just picked up a 00 Jimmy 4wd. 150k miles, When the trans is cold it shifts wierd from 2000-2500 rpms. The trans starts to shift but stutters a lil and finally shifts.(takes about a half second to a second) of hesitation. Does not do it once it warms up. Im thinking about changing the fluid and filter and throwing in a bottle of lucas trans addititve. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance
Jeremy

My brother had the same truck and the trans did many wierd things when it was cold and was fine when warmed up. We changed the fluid and it help out alot. He sold it soon after so i dont know if its still working or what

Do not add the Lucas... I added it to a trans and 2 months later it was dead.
There are 2 solenoids in the trans that can wear out and will give you messed up shifting.
The solenoids are under 20 each. Not hard to change. Just drop the pan and they are right there.
New fluid may or may not help.

What is the color of the current fluid? Does it smell burnt?

trans fliud is a detergent it will wash all of the clutch material away and may start slipping....jus my .02....good luck

X2...that suff is great for business.
Basic maintenance wont hurt. No flushes, drop/clean the pan & replace the filter, but before you do that,
Scan for dtc's first. Have some one drive it with a scanner cold to diagnose your problem.
