OK my 2000 Jimmy 4wd with the 4.3 is acting strange starting yesterday. I will be driving along at about 200(Its normal temp) and out of no where it will go up to 230-240 degrees for a few mins then go back down to 200 then repeat. It only takes about 30 seconds to go from 200-240ish and about 60 seconds or so to go back down from 240 to 200. Replaced the thermostat and coolent temp sensor on the driver side head. Still doing the same thing. Any advice?

Thanks
Jeremy

Yes ended up being a large air bubble moving around in the system from a like 2 weeks ago when I flushed the coolent. Guess It didnt act up untill today since its warmer out then it has been. But just completely bled the system and added some coolent so its good to go. Thanks for your help though.

Just throwing this out there because I really hope it's fixed but....

The chances of you driving around for two weeks with air in the system is pretty much impossible. Unless you've barely driven it for those two weeks?? The symptoms you are describing a very common for a small head gasket leak. If the problem continues you can try the real GM coolant tablets that they used to put in the Cadillacs with the shitty aluminum motors. I've seen those work a bunch of times for small internal leaks. If the problem is really fixed then just disregard this post.

Well took it on a drive and it stated out at 210 but droped and stayed steady at about 180 for 10 mins. Its actually running cooler now then it has ever ran in the month ive owned it. Flushed the coolent 1-2 weeks ago. Coolent level was good, not smoking at all and no coolent in oil. Guessing somehow there was air in the system the whole time and just took till today since it was warm out to cause a problem.

Thanks
Jeremy
