Jalopnik tests the SRT8 Lineup

I dig the new chryslers. I'm not 100% sure on the quality, but the engines are sweet and so are the designs. We have a loaded out 2010 Town and Country, and although it's a really nice vehicle for it's intended use, it does have a few quirks. We'd still buy another one, it's perfect for what it's for and the features it has work really well.

The Charger SRT8 can take on the likes of the BMW 5 Series M
I give Chrysler all the credit in the world for the turnaround they are making at this point... but I'd never say that the SRT8 Charger is a legit competitor for the M5. Then again, the new M5 is almost $100,000.

Also, had to LOL at this under the title
Chrysler refines SRT's power in new lineup
High-end interiors aim for brand appeal beyond the racetrack

The interiors are MUCH better, but to me, high end = Audi/BMW/Mercedes. Chrysler is making the right steps to get in line with the rest of the domestics, but they are all well behind the legit "luxury" brands.

OMFG I just got a link for you guys to pricing, like I was really considering getting a 300c SRT8 next year but honestly im not spending 50k on a 300c

Here is the article

"
According to Automotive News, buyers looking to jump into the 470-horsepower Charger with its scowling bodywork and 12-second quarter mile time can expect to be met with a $46,660 MSRP, including an $825 shipping and destination fee. The Charger's two-door cousin, the 2012 Challenger SRT8, comes saddled with a moderately cheaper $44,077 price tag, though the gap narrows somewhat when you realize that the car gets hit with a $1,500 gas guzzler tax in automatic guise and a $1,000 tax when equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox. Sounds like all the more reason to row your own cogs to us.

Step off of the Dodge lot and into the Chrysler showroom, and the 2012 300 SRT8 will set you back $47,995 thanks to some additional luxury bits.

Which vehicle is the most expensive of the SRT flock? That title goes to the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 with its $55,295 entry price.

Everyone who purchases an SRT vehicle gets a one-day track experience to help them understand how to better control their vehicle, a move that sounds like a good investment to us. Hit the jump for the gaggle of press releases on these vehicles."

You guys have been in the new SRT-8s?

I've driven the new Charger R/T and the new Challenger SRT8. I've been in the new Jeep GC. Interiors are much improved over the previous generation, but I wouldn't call them "High end luxury".

With the Charger and 300 so close, I think a lot of buyers are going to opt up for the 300 SRT myself. Best looking car of the bunch.

He didn't use high end luxury to describe the R/T or GC, did he?

You shouldn't judge this book by its cover, though, because beneath its surface lies a surprising level of refinement. As is the case with other WK2 Grand Cherokees, the 2012 SRT8 offers a sumptuous cabin that is devoid of tacky materials, blocky surfaces, or gaping panel gaps. A leather-trimmed dashboard, center console, and door panels are bundled in an optional Luxury Group package, but all SRT models receive satin chrome and carbon fiber trim accents throughout the interior. Front bucket seats that are unique to the SRT8 incorporate hefty bolstering and are trimmed in both Nappa leather and perforated suede, and a new SRT-designed flat-bottom steering wheel incorporates small shift paddles. Buyers can opt for either a panoramic sunroof or a single-pane unit when bundled with a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.

Automobile must have an agenda too.

I know of at least one died in the wool Ford guy who was in one of the first 392 Challengers. He couldn't use enough superlatives to describe the new interiors.

The article (not the Jalopnik one) said "Chrysler refines SRT's power in new lineup - High-end interiors aim for brand appeal beyond the racetrack".

And YOU said you were in the new GC and R/T. I'm just saying, we aren't talking about those, are we? Chrysler is going to pains to create a separate SRT brand. Why would your experience in the lower level vehicles be relevant?

Because there's no difference in the interiors other than the seats.

That pricing can't be right. So a base model srt is the equivalent to a fully loaded R/T / C? Doesn't make sense at all since typically there's almost a 10k different in price in years past.

Really? The articles must all be wrong then. I don't know personally, I haven't been in them all.
It looks like they also get an SRT exclusive leather wrapped steering wheel. There's a brand new R/T AWD in the parking lot right now, and everything else is the same.
