IS this true about the big shot plate?

i can agree with that. seem sto be mostly a prob with the ford engines and intake disprusment.. on my motor i had problems with 2, and 5 religiously with a rpm air gap.. allways would pull a plug and have those to cyclinders lean and all the others a lil fat..

i dont think its a prob with the plate just at that level a fogger is best played in vrs a plate.

i have the same prob on my sbc, diffrent cyls I found that a smaller jet in the fuel side and more fuel presure helped. I hit the plate with 275

i ran the big shot plate for 2 years on my motor and another year on my buddies motor and never had a problem due to nitrous...never burned up anything...if you pay attention to your tune and dont get crazy with it then you shouldnt have a problem...

i beleive trying to port the intake to equally support each cylinder would be ideal also having the correct tune for that set up would obviously be very critical put the engine on an engine dyno and put a wide band on each cylinder then adjust the ports on the intake to try to even out as best as possible

thats sounds like way too much hassle....i would rather just put a fogger on it....:icon_mrgr
its not a hassle just people getting to excited about nothing...all fords do this they always run lean on the corners even chevy motors do it... how much are you really gonna shoot through a plate? if you stay good with your tune your not gonna break anything, if your trying to stretch it and push your luck your gonna fuck something up anyways...you i picked up 1.7sec off a big shot plate at one time with a 175shot, i would foul a plug before i would hurt the motor it was so safe...there is nothing wrong with em.

1.7 !!! Damn that's nuts. Push of a button and you drop almost two seconds lol.

Hey Casper my pump gas motor would pick up 1.3 on a safe 175 hit with my big shot plate :icon_eek: :icon_mrgr

I have a cheater system I might throw on later in the year, might wake it up some!. I wanna see how fast I can go on motor alone.

Jquick... Was it you I read that picked up 4 tenths from just switching to a big Shot plate?

yeah i did, all i did was buy the big shot upgrade kit and bolted it up and with the same jet sizes picked up 4 tenths...my motor loved the nitrous that is what it was built for, after the first year i put more compression in it and a lil more head work and it picked up on motor about a half second but ran the same on the nitrous, but i think it was because the converter was too loose then because it made more power on the motor and it would flash the converter pretty high...the first year out the converter would only go about 4400 on the brake after that it would go about 5000-5200 i think if i would have got it tightened up some it would have rocked on the spray...

Thats good news... With the 175 cheater I was going 1.3 seconds faster in the 1/4. I just bought the Upgrade kit & am in the process of freshening the motor & trans. The converter stalls on the brake at 3800 & was cutting 1.31 60' on the nitrous pretty consistantly with the fluke 1.27 & one 1.17, but only 1.58 on motor (Great street maners though). I'm going to try the same jetting & see what happens... Hopefully I have the results you did.

If you dont mind me asking.. what ring package & gap did you run. My JE's didnt work out to well & left alot on the table (I think). I never really got a good ring seal but that was probably my fault for giving the motor so much idle time right when it was put together. (I always had alot of fuel in the oil after a day at the track)

ronny sharp did the ring gap on the motor so i wouldnt know, he never told me just asked if i was gonna use a vaccum pump or not... the motor went faster and faster every time i took it out, i had the hellfire rings with a rough hone so it was probably just breaking in...but never had a problem with fuel in the oil... my car went 1.2760ft pretty consistently and it would go like 1.44 on motor...when i first had the car out the first year it went 11.0-10.90 on motor and i hit it with 175 at it would go 9.30s all day...it would only go 9.70s with the cheater kit...then i put more compression in the motor 14-1 and did some more head work it went 10.40s on motor and went 9.20s on 175hit...it would have went faster if i upped the jets but i didnt want to break the motor so i never leaned on it, always kept it safe...if i would have known it was gonna be stolen i would have hit that bitch with 500, lol...

Thanks for the info, not many people want to tell anything.. Which is very understandable.

Well it looks like I have alot to look forward to this year. Guess I better upgrade the 6pt bar to a cage..lol

Best last year was 9.83 @139mph on 175 cheater & 11.14 @125 on the motor, the converter was killing the motor but I cant have the best of both worlds. Really hoping to see that 9.50 this year without doing to much except the cage.

Thanks again for the info.:icon_mrgr
