how could it be installed straight up when the key of the crank isnt lined up with the dot on the camshaft sprocket.strtracer said:Its installed Straight up, but the only way to tell accurately would be to put a degree wheel on it.
I only see one also. If there are 2 others, typically they'll have a "+" or "-" near them. If that's the case, typically those are + (advanced) or - (retarded) 2 degrees, when the key is located in that corresponding slot.1BADAIR said:I can only see 1 keyway slot. the others shoud be visable too
I can see the "+" and "-" in the pic. The "+" is top/dead center, and to the left of the marked key.MCM said:I only see one also. If there are 2 others, typically they'll have a "+" or "-" near them. 78 Firebird that he just bought. Do a search for recent threads by him telling what problems he's had.Uthinkso said:just put a degree wheel on it and be done with it. What is this from? I know its a Pontiac as stated above but is this in a car thats been running or otherwise?
Now that I take a closer look at the pic, you are indeed correct. It doesn't make sense though how the "-", "O", and"+" are so close together like they are (no way that is even close to being 2 degrees apart). Darko claims that there are other keyways cut in the gear, but damned if I can see them. Typically they're evenly spaced around the gear (about 120* apart), along with the "-/O/+".:headscratCrazzy_Al said:I can see the "+" and "-" in the pic.
