and realize just how much money you can make in a weekend with a good dragstrip? Even more if it was closer to the detroit area.. I just dont understand this state.

We've been saying this for years. Just like oil refineries, getting the permits and zoing to put one up is impossible. Plus complaining neighbors. Oh and I'd much rather hear blown alcohol motors all night than a damn DC-10! I used to live 1 mile from oakland airport, those fuckers wake you up at night!

I think a track right by metro would be super sweet, and there's available land down there too.

What else would be cool is if we could get permission from someone that owns a long private road to use after business hours. That'd be really sweet.

thats just about anywhere drag racing was HUGE back in the day and then the fucking hippies and econo cars killed it and now its getting big again but there are a million more rules and shit for one to be opened

from Panama city to Pensacola there are 5 abandoned dragstrips that have been closed since the 70s and all we have is one GOOD 1/8th mile track that has the approval and land to make it a 1/4 but you have a bunch of redneck 1/8th mile lovers that are in the good old boys and think if they make it 1/4 it will ruin it .....just waiting now for new managment there

muscle cars are coming back and its still and untapped market

I think someone bought the land and built condos or something?

Think there's an industrail complex there. I know a few old-timers tried to reopen the old motorcity dragway but it got shot down. They had financial backing, sound barriers, etc. Too bad, it woulda been nice and close.

Supposedly they were gonna build some kind of Barrier around the whole place kinda like a berm around it something ridiculous like 40 ft high too

We'll build it by my Dads house in East China, MI. theres nothing there. Period.

Lets do it, since it'll b like 10 minutes from me. To bad its still to close, farmers gotta get up early ;)

Lets do it. The same family/person owns pretty much that entire township. The Frantz family (who is balls deep in the Michigan Militia and other rediculous things) used to own everything along Tripp Rd. and part of McKinley

Yeah not sure how many people were involved but the guy I knew raced back in the 60's w/ a lot of the big names. Sounds like they had a good proposal, but it got shot down by the city.
