Is 2nd gear synchro gone?

Noticed that when upshifting or downshifting my T5 :nopity:into 2nd gear, unless I pull the shifter very back very firmly, I grind 2nd gear. Do I have a bad synchro? I just bought this car and thought it might need the shifter adjusted, (it has a short throw shifter), but that's probably wishful thinking. Any way to tell for sure when a synchro goes bad?

X2, common problem for the T5....It is POSSIABLE that it is a shifter stop out too far, But I would say unlikely.....T5 is pretty easy to rebuild, and put in syncros......Buy eithe a stronger rebuild kit, or a tremic trans to replace it with.



Hows the clutch?.....Sometimes a bad clutch can cause it to grind, but that will typically be in more then one gear, or all the gears.
