I think medical pot is a joke as well, because of how the system is abused and the government knows it. The joke part is that you need qualify for it. In the reality of things, booze is much worse all the ways around then pot. You know what would be a great idea IMO? Legalize smoking pot to everyone over 18. Sell it in stores like cigarettes and tax it like cigarettes. The people get to buy and smoke it, and the country makes lots of money. I know its a lot harder then just doing that, but it works with booze, so why not try it?
As far as the shooting is concerned, the only sadness I see out of this, is the crooks family who probably thought their son, cousin, nephew, grandson, etc.. was a good person and now through his death they have to learn he was a druggie thief criminal. (this is an assumption of course!) I do not applaud, nor frown upon the person who shot him...especially if this is the second time he was robbed by the same person and he and his mom were tied up, as what other people have said. It is a shady business and the guy growing probably wasn't the smartest dude on the block to begin with.

I didn't know you could posses pot and a firearm, I thought that was illegal?
I don't ever see pot being legalized for the following reasons:
1. Cultivation-Unlike tobacco and alcohol , marijuana is much easier to grow in your home. The government won't have the control (to tax) as with tobacco and alcohol.
2. Public Perception-There are far too many people that feel marijuana is a gateway drug.
3. Production-Too many different types of marijuana. Unlike alcohol, marijuana can't be measure for potency (i.e. 80 proof Whiskey)

They also can't tell "how high" you are and when it's a risk for driving a vehicle or operating equipment. They can't pin point the last time you smoked it and how much like they can with alcohol. And for potency all you have to do is test the THC % in the plant, also looking at the crystals on it after it is dried gives you a idea of the quality. Smell like most people think has no real affect on how potent it actually is.

That's what I don't get. It's actually not bad for you at all besides the lil bit of smoke. It grows naturally and has also great medical treatment purposes especially for those going through chemotherapy. It easies they're body and relaxes everything so they dont puke their brains out for 2-4 days after. I say legalize it and tax the hell out of it just like hookers.

Technically you can posses both BUT you can not purchase a firearm if you smoke pot (Unless you lie on the form).

Actually... As I remember it, it says "are you an illegal user of marijuana".... Which would mean that if you have your card... You are not an "illegal" user.
Although then you go down the slippery slope of federally illegal vs state illegal, etc

dude that got shot didnt exactly have the best rep sheet, not saying he deserved to be gunned down however we wasnt much of a asset to our society.

A man who was fatally shot after police said he participated in a home invasion late Thursday in Milan has been identified as Jerald Antonio Ogden of Ypsilanti.
Ogden, 28, was one of two men police said forced their way inside a home on Anderson Street about midnight Thursday and stole property.

Ogden and an acquaintance were involved in a drug-related robbery, said Ogden's sister, 29-year-old Lasondra Massey of Jackson.
Police said someone who was inside the home followed Ogden and the other man along a path to the Scottsdale Estates subdivision and fatally shot Ogden. The other man left the area. Ogden was found dead behind a car in the subdivision on O'Brian Drive. The autopsy found that he sustained multiple gunshot wounds, said his sister, 25-year-old Natoshia Ogden of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Interim Milan Police Chief Jeremy Nieman said Sunday that someone is in custody in the case, being held on charges. He would not be more specific. It's unclear whether it's the same person who was arrested Friday, suspected in the shooting. Nieman indicated that investigators are making significant progress.
Natoshia Ogden said what her brother did was wrong, but he didn't deserve to die.
"When you follow them and shoot them down in cold blood, it's murder," she said. "To me, nobody has the right to play God or play judge; that's what our justice system is for."
Jerald Ogden was paroled in April of 2010 after being convicted in Washtenaw County of breaking and entering a building with intent and two counts of possessing a controlled substance, state Department of Corrections records show. He also had a conviction for assault with a dangerous weapon.
Natoshia Ogden said her brother had been in trouble with the law since he was 15 years old. However, Lasondra Massey said she thought her brother was turning things around.
He recently got married and was working as a janitor, she said. She spoke with him on the phone Thursday night about coming to Jackson soon to meet for dinner. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents, four sisters and five brothers. Funeral arrangements have not been set.
"He was too young," she said. "I don't condone what he did. But at the same time, (someone) shouldn't have chased him down and shot him."

also, there is speculation the two guys were possibly responsible for this marijuana robbery in rural Milan back in October.

The men kicked in the front glass door to the home, according to investigators with the Monroe Co. Sheriff's Office. They say a father and his son were home at the time, and that the robbers used a weapon to hit the victim in the head.
Tim Riley and his son, Tyler, 18, tell 13abc the robbers were wearing masks when they tied up both men and pistol-whipped Tim.
According to the Rileys, the men stole a computer, an I-pod and two wallets, then drove off in the family's 2003 Black Mazda Protege with Michigan plates "2JKS95".
Deputies describe two of the men as Caucasian, one African-American. Two of the suspects are roughly 6 feet tall, 180 pounds. They are said to be armed and dangerous.
Tim Riley suffered a gash on his head, and later said he planned to drive himself to the hospital. His son was not harmed.
No word if this home invasion may be connected to one earlier in the week involving 5 men wearing masks in Adrian.
